D130 commercial

D130 commercial
A bunch of hikers hiking up a 40° incline in what appears to be a canyon.
A d130 appears and climbs up the hill/mountain swiftly
The hikers look on amusingly.
The d130 stops and invites the hikers to catch a ride up to the top.
They reach the top where the hikers look on to the amazing vista.
The d130 turns around and leaves.
What's the d130 doing there at the canyon?
Is it an Uber?
Why does he drive all the way to the top just to leave immediately?
The commercial doesn't make much sense 🤣

You could ask the same thing of the hikers. Why are they in the desert carrying only some rope, no water and no supplies? I think it was just meant to show that if you want to drop 7 of your friend's bodies in the desert it can be easily achieved, at least that's the most logical thing one could deduce.

But the intent and purpose of the d130 is not. It would be different if he's another hiker who then should stay up at the top. Or he's a park ranger who's patrolling the area which then makes sense that he would leave right away.
I understand what the goal of the commercial is and what they are trying to convey. My point is that the narrative doesn't make any sense.

There's a big difference between fictional creative narrative and incoherent nonsensical narrative.
Of course a commercial is a form of storytelling which warrants creative liberties. But the issue here is not about creative liberties, instead, it's about coherent and sensible narrative.
Therefore you can have a commercial that's set in an dystopian fantasy sci Fi world (not realistic) but doesn't make any sense not because the setting is not real (unrealistic) but because the logic/motive/rationale is flawed in reference to human nature, psychology and such.

You're really hung up on this aren't you? Is it really that weird that a Land Rover Defender is scaling some rocky terrain? Could people also want to scale this same terrain? What if the vehicle and people, independently of one another, scale said rocky terrain at or about the same time? What if the aforementioned Defender sees the people scaling the same rocky terrain and offers them a lift to make the journey easier? Once at the top the hikers say, "thanks Defender friend we'll walk down or abseil down or something." Is it really that weird?

No I am not hung up at all. I am just having an intellectual analytical discussion.
If you read what I wrote, I stated clearly that the part that doesn't make much sense is not that a Defender is scaling a rocky terrain.
It's about the presence and reason why he's there. The disconnection and nonsensical part is due to the fact that he drives all the way up to the top and turns around and leaves right away.
Now if all of them are having a picnic at the top and then he decides to leave afterwards and leaves the rest of the hikers up there, that would make sense because he is going to the top for the same reason as the other hikers are. It's just that he decides to spend less time at the top.
