Thanks for the reply, Ralf. Hmmm, I might have a different setup than you do. Mine has three seatbelt plugs (one for each rear seatbelt receptacle), and an additional plug coming from inside the rear driver's side seat cushion. It's that last one that I'm guessing is some sort of passenger weight sensor for the airbag -- and the one I'll have to figure out how to trick into thinking something is plugged in. Did you only have three seatbelt plugs -- or did the replacement seats also have a plug coming from the inside of the cushion? (Mine is a '22 D90 if that makes any difference).
I did not have that connector on the seat cushion. Only the buckles. Interesting if they installed a seat occupancy sensor in the rear. Mine is a 2022 although it is a relatively base model. Unless it is a heated rear seat element.

Wow that is truly weird. Mine’s a base model (not even an S model) with steel wheels and cloth seats (non heated in the rear). I wonder what the difference is! At any rate, lucky for you. Keep up the great work.

Maybe it was in the 21 my and not in 22. Here is the photos of mine
Wanted to close the loop on this. Ralf, you were right -- I finally got around to taking my seat D90 rear apart to see what that extra wire (mentioned above) was connected to, and it turns out it was the middle seat seatbelt pretensioner and not some sort of airbag occupant sensor like I thought. I did some surgery on the seat, pulled it out and mounted it to a spare threaded stud in the back. I plugged it back in and the light is now out. Mission accomplished. Hope this helps anyone else out who decides to remove their rear seats and stumbles across the same thing I did.
Great news! I also found when i looked thru my ccf settings that my vehicle is set from the factory with only the front seatbelts being monitored. I bet yours is set to rear also.
