Dealer lots are bare

The current situation at JLR dealers is really tragic for all concerned. I checked on new car inventory yesterday and the lots are bereft of vehicles. In 5 dealerships I checked, there were few Land Rovers other than a few Range Rover Sports, a couple of Discovery Sports, several full size Range Rovers, and one dealer had five Defender 90X's, three that are not at the dealership, but enroute and one 90 base that has been sitting there for quite awhile. The on-line pricing is crazy, I saw a USED 2020 110 that was $104k! https://www.edmunds.com/land-rover/d...9/?radius=6000 A local dealer usually has 100+ new vehicles at least on the lot and now there are 16, mostly models that are not selling or so optioned up they are way overpriced. I know we don't think about the sales people most times, but to go from not being able to sell cars thy traditional way due to the COVID restrictions to not being able to get cars to sell...sad for all.

I do feel bad for the sales people. The dealers themselves are probably alright, they have the service department revenue after all.
I feel better now about buying a new luxury truck than I ever had, the supply problems for every manufacturer is jacking up the used car values like crazy. I feel like the initial depreciation hit is going to be ameliorated quite a bit for the next year+.

And the latest from JLR; the Defender will take priority in production ...but will be missing several things. The hated start-stop will disappear along with wireless charging. https://carbuzz.com/news/jaguar-land...ucial-decision
