Default Dealership Rant

My 10 month old P400 110 X has developed a squeak just the left of the instrument cluster. It sounds like a dried leaf being crushed. It's not that noticeable on a perfectly flat paved road, but off road it becomes very noticeable and it drives me nuts. I was at the dealership today getting some other work done and mentioned it to my service advisor hoping they could take a look. The response was it would cost me labour as squeaks and rattles are not covered after 6 months.

When I pushed the issue he told me he would do me a favor and look at it, but could not promise anything, unless I paid.

I love everything about my vehicle, but f*ck I really hate the sales and after care from Land Rover dealerships. It really turns me off the brand.

Are you talking about the trim piece that runs the entire length of the dash and goes above the gauges and then back down by the vents to the left? If so I had the same issue and the fix was to take it off and add a felt pad underneath.

My dealer did this for me and said squeaks and rattles were 1 year after not 6 months... Seems like a disconnect unless that's changed.

My dealership has always troubleshooted that stuff for free regardless of mileage. Maybe they’re an outlier though.

I always thought a factory warranty covered everything? When my dad had new rovers in the past he used to bring up squeaks and stuff even if the truck was 3 years old and the dealer would fix it without question. But I also live in Canada so maybe it's different and that was a few years ago. This goes for other car manufacturers too if it had a factory warranty any issue you had besides maintenance was covered by the dealer

Clock is ticking on obsolescence of the dealership franchise model... sorry you're dealing with this.

Your dealer is full of crap. You have to interview your service advisor just like you would an employee. If you don't like one or they give you the run around, ask for someone else.

It's your car, your time, and your money. Don't worry about hurting feelings.

I have this same issue. I've been in twice already and still sqeaks/rattles, usually starts back up about a mile away from dealership. Headed back for the 3rd round. At least it's been covered

True. The dealership special interests in New Mexico have politicians preventing direct-to-consumer auto sales with a state law prohibiting the practice. So Tesla has just opened their 2nd direct-to-consumer “dealership” on sovereign tribal land outside of the Albuquerque/Santa Fe area. I personally know one LR technician who left the Albuquerque dealership and just started at the new Tesla facility. The Carvana car vending machine model and Tesla ingenuity are here to stay.

Bold time to make that prediction.

I don't know, Factory direct doesn't necessarily sound like the answer either. I'd be pretty PO'd if I bought a Tesla the first month or two of this year seeing some models have dropped in MSRP around $12K - $15K after numerous "price adjustments".
