Wait, first they deleted the 18" steel wheels, and chipped away at other features such as the white roof, then they axed the whole 90!?
Hmm. Where I live (a well-off suburban area), I pass a dozen or two 110's per short trip. But 90's are very rare, as very few local purchasers would consider a stubby 2-door with awful back-seat access. I think it's fair for JLR to recognize the blindingly-obvious, but it's still sad.
So, since no local soccer mom would buy my 90, was the resale value toast from the start!?
Edit: Oh, except for the V8. I like my P300, but a good V8 can't be beat.
I also disagree that axing nearly the entire 90 range was a mistake, but it was always going to be a low-volume product, and since it was a niche product, the V8 was the most popular model in the US, hence why they’re keeping it.
I’d like a core model 90, but unfortunately the market dictates what gets produced.
Oh wow, the 90 has been completely discontinued in the US other than the V8 trim, which now starts at $114,400 before destination.
What a bloody stupid thing to do. I get it, the 90 was always going to be a low-volume product, so I see from a business sense that they only sell the V8, which has been the most popular model of the 90.
Its still a terrible thing to do.
That sucks to hear about the D90 lower trim levels not being offered anymore. I'm sure that the tariffs was the final nail in the coffin for the less profitable models.

Glad that I have my one.
The US & UK cut a deal with the tariffs. I believe it was 10% and JLR id eating up the tariff and not making the customer pay for it.

I'd argue that making a form factor (SUV in this case) where the middle letter stands for "Utility" - less utilitarian by stripping the rear doors did more to kill off the 90 than anything else. I'm about the furthest thing from a soccer Mom that there is - and I've had 2 door SUV's but I'll never own another one again. One of my most favorite SUV's I've ever had was my Vehicross. It was so much fun. I was also 24 years old when I owned it. As soon as I got a wife and a dog, it went away. Why? Because it was essentially a 2 seater since getting in the back seats was such a pain in the ***. In that car I actually removed the rear seats completely. I replaced it with an FJ Cruiser which technically has 4 doors but the rear doors are "suicide doors". Again, the rear seats are lowered 100% of the time. Anytime we had guests or had to drive around more than just two people we had to use my wife's trusty 4 door Accord. My subsequent vehicles have all be 4 doors.
In general, (everyone's situation is truly unique) the young, the single, the childless, can get away with owning a 2 door SUV and loving it. The problem is, there are very few younger people who can afford a $75k vehicle. You can see it play out with the Wrangler - as soon as the 4 door model was released - 2 door model sales plummeted. This was always a predetermined conclusion to the 90 in the US market unfortunately.
Even 2 door cars are on their way out. While growing up my father always drove coupes, not sports cars mind you. I still remember his '87 T-bird. But putting a child in the back of a car like that is basically illegal now with booster seat requirements. You might be able to fit it, but it's very difficult, so the solution is to just have 4 doors. Let's face reality, any 2 door vehicle is a lifestyle or 3rd car choice. Don't mention single cab trucks, pretty sure my parents would still be in jail based on how we rode in those.
Glad you guys have finally noticed after the D90 being nerfed to only the V8 model. The strangest part is that in Australia you can only get it in S, X-D SE and X. No V8 model, but P425 engine offered.
Anybody noticed how there is more trim level specific wheel choice? Or only full black trim on X now?
Usually I am a bit upset when I order a new car only for it to be facelifted before I even take delivery but in this case I am relieved I had my order in for the current vehicle. Collected it only last Tuesday (15/7/25) I hate all the new changes as they all seem to make the defender just that little bit less attractive - especially those rear lights. Also here in Ireland they have now dropped the diesel 6 cylinder 300D which I got in mine. Now if you order a new one and want a diesel only engine all can get is the diesel D250.
