Defender becoming it's own brand, Land Rover phased out
Interesting changes coming with elimination of Land Rover branding. Kind of sad but it really speaks to the massive hit the Defender has become.

I work in marketing, and this is nothing but pure marketing spin. Of all the things to focus and spend vital resources on at a time when they need to get everything right (quality issues, supply issues, dealer issues, etc), they decide to go the ol’ smoke and (not ClearSight because they’re out of chips) mirrors route. I wish them luck.

A spokesperson added, somewhat confusingly: "Land Rover will remain. It is strong, well known and we will use that collective strength to give our brands authenticity and purpose. The Land Rover name remain on our vehicles, reinforcing our all terrain credentials and technology capabilities."

I just don’t get it…
Is chevy dropping chevy and making Tahoe a brand, suburban a brand, corvette a brand?
is ford dropping the ford name and making bronco a brand, explorer a brand, mustang a brand?
Someone explain this to me so I can understand. How are people in charge getting dumber?
why don’t they spend $15 billion on ways to make their vehicles more reliable?

Sorry, but these people are f-ing moronic to do this.
Why take a brand and destroy it like this.
Hopefully it's a meaningless press release.
BTW the problem is obvious. Just sell off Jag, kill the non sellers, keep Defender, RR, RRS... Done !

I don't know. What car company wouldn't give such a hot product a dedicated building? Hours will probably be by appointment only.

Anyone remember the Acura Legend?
Honda did just the opposite with the "Legend" brand. They had conducted studies and found the "Legend" nameplate had a higher recognition than the "Acura" brand did....So they eliminated the Legend nameplate. Proved to work out well for them....Bet ya gotta think real hard as to what they rebadged the big sedan as? I think it was the RL?
