Orders of the Defender made in June 2021 are still not received here in the UAE (Abu Dhabi, Dubai etc…)

According to JLR dealers here, the chip delayed production in 2021 and now orders carried over are being delayed to 2024!!! because they claim that 6 cylinder engines are now allocated being allocated by factories for the new Range Rover Vogue and the new Range Rover Sport. Nevertheless, people world wide are still ordering and receiving their Defender orders!

I believe it is ridiculous. People here do not know if this is misleading information or not, but no one has a choice but to wait.

 

I see regular posts from Defender owners in UAE on the forums showing their new Defenders being collected at dealer. One guy was getting his 4th.

Straight 6 not V6 BTW.

I think your dealer may be spinning you some tall tales.

 

May I ask how regular do you see these posts from UAE? 10 posts every week? 20? 30? Because as a UAE Citizen, I know personally and non-personally a huge sample of people who ordered defenders back in 2021 and are still waiting till 2024 to receive them.

Nevertheless, I can’t deny what you’re saying but I need to point out that there are many possibilities of your familiarity with posts from the UAE such as that customers who paid deposits for a Defender and are waiting since 2021 were given a choice to either wait til 2024 or opt out/downgrade to other options such as the S, SE and 4 cylinder Defenders, which many people I also know opted for, instead of waiting for their X Models and HSE models.

This could explain many of the posts you’re seeing. Moreover, most defender owners in the UAE are buying European and American Specs or cars that were distributed by other Middle Eastern countries here.

I would say that if by any chance like you said that our dealer are spinning tall tales (which can be possible) it is far beyond the limit and ethics to lie to an enormous amount of customers (literally every defender buyer I know).

The main reason I started this thread was to learn from other people who may have or may have not went through this alongside the people I already heard from.
