Just got a call from my dealer that they offloaded 5 new MY22s (including ours!) at the dealership in Northern California this morning. Still needs to be prepped early next week for purchase, but I got an early look this afternoon!
In person, the XS looks a lot more like a Range Rover than other Defenders and absolutely massive - really, really cool.
I ordered the same build. I had not seen any silicon silver defenders around. I was curious what the XS model would look like with the matching lower section. My dealer had a RR sport in SS.
Here is a comparison of your pic vs mine:
I think the defender would look better with the black pack then the silver badging and bumpers IMO.
I tend to agree, really wish they had blacked out the badging. I will say I was getting nervous about choosing the XS when I finally saw it in the builder and it is a great looking car in person. The only change I would really want is the badging and a choice to swap the wheels for the 5-spoke, which I may do if I can find someone who wants these. Other than that, it looks like a really interesting mix of the LR4/Range Rover (we're upgrading from an older RRS).
I saw a Carpathian 90X, a Tasman 110, and a Yulong 110 next to it and I would say this was my favorite, followed by the Yulong with the black pack and contrast hood. Wouldn't worry about the choice, you'll love it!

My original order was a my21 HSE in Carpathian Grey. I think that is still my top choice but also more or less the safer choice. The Silicon silver is pretty neat but I have never had a light colored vehicle before, so it might take some adjusting to. I also liked the grey five spoke wheels. These wheels the XS comes with have grown on me since being forced into them, but have not given me a wow feeling yet.
Just curious when did you place your order for the XS? I had to swap to a new order to go from the HSE to XS when the order got converted from a my21 to m22. I ordered the first week of February and looking at an end of August delivery...The XS order was confirmed third week of march or so.
I ordered a MY21 at the end of January and was switched to a 3/15 order date and 4/20 build date for a MY22.
On Carpathian vs. Silicon Silver, I think the Carpathian looks better in photos, but I preferred the Silicon Silver and Yulong in person. Hopefully you'll feel the same!
I will say that these cars are very hard to photograph and the builds I saw in person looked nothing like what I expected them too after (way too much!) google image searching. The chrome pack on the front actually looked pretty cool on someone else's car and there's no way I would have thought the white looked good if I hadn't seen it for myself. The Tasman with a bunch of options looked great as well.
