A lovely snowy morning.

Local club is having a snow run tomorrow. Sadly I can't go. I'm sure it would be a lot of fun.

Took an early morning drive up in the woods. Just missed the sunrise but still a nice view.

You are spot on, especialy about the mixed highway driving when you have clear road one minute, then hard pack then slush and ice. Snow tires can't be beat. I'm getting ready to install my snows in a week or so - hope to get about 3 seasons out of them. Had to get 20" rims as there are no real 19" snows available.

I'm still trying to find a winter tire for the 19".
Found an Nokian Hakkapeliitta 9 SUV in 255 65 R 19 except it's studded. We can drive studded in CO, but I just don't need the studs.
Tire Rack has an Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 in 255/60R19 108S.

What are consequences of running a slightly smaller tire (255 60 vs 255 65)? A size comparison says you'll be doing more revolutions per mile. Which if I'm a couple of miles slower than the speedo says, I don't mind. But is there other negative/damaging effects?

Do they come studded? Years ago I bought Nokian Hakkapeliitas for my 2000 Honda Insight (the low rolling resistance OEM tires were awful in snow). They were studdable, but I didn’t put the studs in. They were still spectacular snow tires.

Cold in the PNW right now. Stellar snow. Highway not too bad. Sub zero Fahrenheit temps.

As Fridays go, not too shabby. Defender is great in the snow.

No. Bridgestone Blizzaks 275/55 R20 I run them on my OEM city-rims December to March

The Goodyears did not meet my needs in snow among other conditions. Terrible traction, especially noticeable under braking on hard pack.

The factory Goodyears are BAD. Just had my first snow experience last night. Having had Duratracs and BFG K02s on my Raptors, I wasn’t expecting much, but they were even worse than I could have imagined. Shopping for tires today 🤣
