Default Deployable sidesteps

Does anyone have the deplorable sidesteps installed on their vehicle. If so, do you like them or are the a maintenance trap?… Also, any idea on dealers cost to install them? If you’re wondering, yes I do have the air suspension. However, my wife is short and she happens to be 5 months pregnant. So, it’s a little bit of a hassle to get in and out of the truck.

If you are ordering, I wouldn't + the sidesteps. The truck really does drop down in Access mode and no one in my family has had much trouble getting in. Even the dog and I think he may be shorter than your wife!<g>. Worse case is that it is a Dealer installed option. There's no cost benefit of fitting it beforehand. And actually, you may want to go with a 3rd party installer if you don't like the install costs.

Finally, if you are ever interested in becoming one of the "Off-road Houligans" you will definitely want to avoid them and go with some rock sliders (Lucky8, New Defender Mods, etc) instead. The sliders function as well (they're just not deplorable) and protect the lower end of the vehicle.

Do you have your defender drop to access mode each time you stop? I am 6'4 and I am feeling like I am going to wear out the corner of the seat by sliding off due to the drop at normal height.

My kids who are young cant get in and out by themselves very easily at normal height.

Ok so I was quoted $1900 + tax for the install….That’s crazy. Also, they quoted me $4200 for the deployable steps. If I order from LR parts they are around $2900 shipped. How in the world can you order parts from Europe and pay for shipping for way less then what you get from the dealer? I told the Land Rover parts department where they could order parts for way cheaper in order to save their customers money. I’m sure they appreciated it

Yep. I FREQUENTLY find I can have it shipped from the UK (in ~5 days) for the cost or cheaper from a dealer. And the shipping tells me everything unlike the vagueness I get from the Dealers.

I'm looking for a "Ford Raptor" type wide sidesteps for a 2021 D90 (I just like the look). I've seen the Go Rhino XTREME D1's and I like them, but no fitment for Defender yet (if ever). I'm not really into the tubular factory type.

Any ideas?

I have them and absolutely love them. I was quoted quite a bit to have them installed. However, I found out that if I went through the dealerships website and clicked install accessories, it was quite a bit cheaper than what the dealership quoted me to begin with and did it that way.
