Depreciation
Make sure we're talking about avg trade value on KBB not avg retail. Nevermind carmax and carvana, the chevy dealership is also lowballing in this case and not doing the legwork. Go to another one if you're interested in the chevy as there are probably several chevy dealerships in your area. Keep going to regular dealerships and bring the printed out KBB, just say that you're looking at several different cars at several different dealerships but whatever you buy new you need to at least get the 70k KBB price. You'll find several dealers who will go for it. I would be surprised if you don't. Wait until closer to the end of the month when they need to hit monthly numbers or even the end of next month when they need to hit annuals.
Not really. A Jeep Wrangler with manual windows and mirrors starts at $43k I believe.
Luxury SUV's have always depreciated more in their first year than any other segment (except now EV's, which you should thank your lucky stars you down own).

If you don’t sell it, you’ve not taken a loss.
There’s nothing in the market like a Defender and you have the exceptional privilege of owning and experiencing one.
if you want to forego the experience of exceptional comfort and capability, buy a RAV4.

2023 Defender 130, P400, 25K miles, virtually all options including locking rear differential, etc. MSRP $92K. No dings, dents, scratches, smoke, stories, etc. Purchased new - owned 14 months.
Carmax appraisal $62K. That’s a breathtaking loss.
Are people seeing better trade values?

Iv'e done 3 laps of Oz in the Landcruiser towing vans and been very remote, I wouldn't take even a new defender out there for fear of a minor glitch costing you lots of $$ for flat beds out in the desert. I know people have but it's an expensive risk with a possible $10k+ flat bed bill as we have seen before.I'm pretty sure the Wrangler was the last vehicle in the US to offer manual windows, as the F-150 and other base model work trucks quit offering manual windows and locks a few years back.
They just announced on the 2025MY all Wranglers are now standard with power windows and locks.

Could be worse. Our 100k 2023 Tesla Model X with 15k miles was fetching 42-55 k on nearly every site. Wife hated the unreliable falcon doors and wanted it gone. She stole my Disco5 and told me to liquidate it. Somehow I was lucky to salvage at least 59k via private sale.
We're going back to leasing. We have better tax right offs here that way anyways.
