Detailed video by Defender design team/Reinventing an icon
If you are nerdy like me or OCD about learning more about the current Defender, here is an hour long video from the Land Rover Defender design team talking through the process on how this vehicle's interior and exterior design came to reality. Some parts can be dull or slow but there are some interesting stories sprinkled through. For example, the headlight design was an accident. On the new Defender, there is no headlamp cover; the headlights are exposed. The designer explains that when they were ready to present the prototype vehicle to the executive approval team that the engineering department had shipped 2 left headlamp covers (instead of a left and right), so they left the lamps exposed.....and ultimately decided it actually looked better/was more unique that way....but it was an accident so to speak.
