Hey everyone,
Here is a question for all of detailers out there. What are we using on the interior door panels to clean them? My cloth/leather is getting stained from the dog drool and or rain/snow elements. I only use a damp microfiber to wipe them and or light interior stain remover. It’s driving me nuts!
Has anyone use anything else to bring them back to life. Any suggestions will be great!
Interesting. So you have the non-leather door tops and arm rests then, is that correct?? (I believe it's some sort of PU material, the higher spec models have leather there)
If so, I would use a good interior cleaner -- something mid range and non-damaging like Griots interior cleaner -- and a non abrasive microfiber cloth to clean it. Put the cleaner on the rag not the door panel. Try a small area, and hopefully what you are seeing is just dirty dried dog saliva on the top of the surface, and not actually damage to the surface
If the discoloration is still there, I would bet that you have damaged it already (cleaning with perhaps a magic eraser pad which you should absolutely never ever use on interior soft plastics or vinyls.., or a solvent based cleaner... or perhaps even household cleaner like 409 or windex. And that... is somewhat surprising on a vehicle this new that was supposed to have been battle tested 8 ways to Sunday for durability of interior surfaces. If you have damaged it somehow, might try using "303 protectant" which can hide damage on certain colors... worst case that door upper casing / part is pretty cheap (sub 100) to buy, I've looked at them on parts diagrams trying to see how they attach to the door frame before.

Yes that is correct. I use chemical guys for my whole detail set up and have years of experience
too but this is something I just can’t seem to get clean. I’ll try that Griots on a micro and see what happens.
It is defiantly not plastic. It’s very soft but has like a hybrid material kind of like nylon cloth mix. It’s only happening on that door so I’m wondering if it’s a defect overall. I’ll try scrubbing it again, maybe some steam and see what happens.
Have you tried a baby wipe? I know it probably sounds crazy, but I learned from my sister-in-law that they're great for clothing stains (and have seen her use them for it - I guess this is a benefit of having kids?). I've also seen comments online about using them to clean alcantara/suede. They're generally quite mild - I can't vouch for their usefulness / material safety in this case, but just a thought.
Actually -- yes, do try Einsett / Nextzett Plastic Cleaner (someone mentioned it above), but I would do this *after* Griots. I forgot about this product which I do keep in my arsenal too!. I used it on a D2 that was very dirty and it was the only product that removed deep dirt / smoke from the Bahama Beige plastics in the interior.
It will, however, remove color from certain older plastics (like utterly everything grey inside a Range Rover Classic... so even though it works a treat, know that it does have the potential to remove color. And absolutely not a good product to use on leather)
In the future a bit of steam with a gentle interior cleaner would probably do well on that type of soil. Steamers are great for this sort of cleaning challenge.
