Default Ditched Bronco

Hello All!

I ordered a (2door) bad lands Bronco on reveal hour. My truck is set to be built first week of August. After seeing one in person for the first time last week, I promptly put it for sale on eBay. Originally I was all about the new defender 90, but when it came out without a removable top, I lost interest and jumped on the Bronco train. Seeing it and how “cheap” it looked and felt sent me running back to LR. I drove the D90 today and placed my order for a 22my P300 S model in Hakuba silver with 19” black rims, off road tires, black top, sig lights, black headliner and black interior. The build quality and minimal modernism was quite a contrast from the Ford. My Bronco came out to about $52k (non Sasquatch) and the Defender ended up about $56k. With the profit from my flip, it may be lower I’m told I could receive it by oct/nov.

From pictures and video, the Bronco looks slapped together with mish-mash of shapes, textures and surfaces.

Good choice IMO. No comparison really, you'll be driving a much more premium vehicle.

I saw my first bronco last week on high way, and other than squatch package looking too big, I thought it looked kick ***. However, I think your choice of going with defender is spot on. The initial reports of hard top issues likely will be the beginning of rushed production problems. I ordered a v8 defender in April with delivery date oct 12. I also have a bronco 7/19 reservation with order placed in February. My plan was to buy whatever came in first. Now, it’s becoming no brainer to buy defender regardless.

They're both great trucks. Just different.

The Ford is modular with tons of removable parts, a massive screen, and a range of colors that aren't 2 whites, 50 shades of grey, that's-gross brown, baby-room blue, and you're-going-to-regret-this green (sorry Defender colors are f-ing drab). Oil changes won't be $390. You won't have to wait 3 weeks for a service appointment, people won't be absolutely terrified to buy it from you in a couple years, and they don't look like mom-wagons.

All of this comes from my 15 yo son who has an Outer Banks Bronco on order. And he's right. About all of it. Look at the parts that come right off.

That said, I'm dying to get my HSE X-Dynamic 110 which, to me, is three times the truck. It's quiet, it drives like it's floating on a cloud of money, and, aside from the color options, you'll know which car is yours in the parking lot because it definitely doesn't look like every other soul-sucking rounded off is-that-a-Hyundai-or-a-Bentley SUV.

Aside from maybe a G-wagon there isn't anything else on the road that I look at and actually "want". The G-wagon got crossed off the list because it drives like a cereal box so what's the other option? There's just something about the Defender that makes me laugh when someone compares it to a Bronco.

It really would be a dark, depressing world without the Defender. But same goes for the Bronco.

I'm pretty sure this post is by a 15 y/o boy.

Nah, I think the Bronco is going to be great vehicle and people are gonna love it, a bit like my Jeep. I might consider adding one to the fleet someday, but it will be hard to pry me away from my Jeep as there are just so many more options in the aftermarket for now.

That said, only some snot-nosed kid with no experience in the world would hate on Master Chief Green! (and let's face it the brown and the blue are both gorgeous too).

vive la différence!
