Default DIY Defender notebook for the glovebox.

Update: So we upgraded to a 2024 Defender 110 X-Dynamic and I updated the notebook to reflect the changed vehicle recovery procedures for model years 2022 and later and rearranged some of the pages. It totals 90 pages now (but you can use whatever PDF viewer or Preview in MacOS to rearrange and delete pages as you please).

Please see the new PDF named "D110 L663 Notebook V2022+.pdf" which is ready to upload and publish on Lulu.com in the attachments below (you will have to upload or design your own book cover however). It was under $9 to print this PDF a spiral bound notebook at Lulu.com

The original 2020-2022 PDF (named " LR D110 L663 Notebook.pdf") still remains available as well.

Enjoy

-------------------Original Post below---------------
So I came across a lengthy Vehicle Recover Guide PDF and I printed it out so that I could stick a hard copy in my Defender's glove box. Then I got to thinking, it would be nice to make a custom notebook w/ that information, some vehicle specifications, notes, gear logs, service logs, etc. to keep in the car.

So I cooked up this PDF attached below. It contains 71 pages of mixed diagrams, charts, specs, table for recording vehicle service, trip logs, the complete LR Vehicle Recovery guide PDF and intermixed pages of blank grid pages for drawing/notes.

I had it custom printed at Lulu.com (spiral bound worked better than the glued bindings which can't lie flat on relatively utilitarian/expensive quality/weight paper) for under $8USD per book. Just upload the PDF to Lulu.com (or whatever publishing service you want), select A5 book size (that's what the PDF is sized for), design your cover and upload any cover graphics you'd like and voila, custom notebook:

Look through the PDF and feel free to modify/add/delete pages as you want for your own notebook. Note that the pages as ordered create a notebook that has page 1 to the right side (immediately to the right after the blank inside of the front cover) and pages 2&3 are facing each other, 4&5 face each other, etc. So if you remove/add pages check on Lulu.com's (or whatever publishing service you decide to use) preview feature to make sure that the notebook is laying out like you want.

Cheers,

Dave

I ordered 2 versions when I made this book, one with a normal glued notebook binding (which looks/feels nicer but it doesn't lie flat when opened) and a spiral bound version. The glued binding version was actually cheaper at < $4USD vs the spiral bound version < $7USD. Cost also depends on the type/quality of paper you pick. Pretty reasonable IMHO.

I have a 2022 and this was directly from the Vehicle Recovery PDF from LR.

Ah, I didn't know that. What year did they stop this feature/requirement to unlock the transmission? Do you have a PDF for the vehicle recovery process for the newer years that implement this? I can maybe put together a PDF for newer models.

Please regard the vehicle recovery process in the PDF for models 2020-2022 (and maybe later depending on when LR changed things).

Yes, me too, I like old school paper records and not just relying on LR's database/electronic records. Also gives me a place to track my non factory options and make notes about them for later.

This is great. Thank you for making it available. I went to print it with Lulu.com but got some warnings (see below). Do these matter?

You'll have to "Flatten" the PDF. I was getting the same issue.
