I read it... The fact they are losing money when they have a massive supply/demand imbalance is damning. 200k back orders says they have the demand. Not being able to make money with that kind of demand says they may be doomed due to mismanagement. Just hope it's not until after my warranty is up.

The defender is the only model I'd consider owning in the entire JLR lineup... And they nailed a very specific niche for me that Jeep messed up. I also have some attachment to the brand, owning an s3. But they have to do more than that. Jaguar should be right up my alley but offers nothing unique befitting the name. If they can't do that they probably should kill it.

suspension, size (with spare wheel deleted it's short) and towing capacity which is enough for me.
We camp a lot.
cross shopped GLE/X5/XC90 (all 7 seaters and below 5 meters in length).
Looked at Discovery before.

It's a delightful little truck and I hope you enjoy it. Been through plenty of mud, sand, ocean, and a little snow. Pulled an RV an EV, and a golf cart out of very soft sand. It doesn't even flinch, ever.

Back to the article...There is definitely mismanagement due to an outdated and very costly leadership hierarchy in the UK and way too many crippling government regulations. How can you be in trouble when there is such high demand and back orders piling up. I bet Carlos Ghosn can fix it! lol....

I think it's all relative. Coming from Ford products, the Defender feels pretty "luxury" to me. If you're coming from Range Rovers, probably less so.

Can always buy a spare E class with the savings, that should scratch the lux itch.
