Expedition Rack Accesories 🧳
#11
I finally got the opportunity to fit my new roof rack accessory on the D90's rack. The Modulus 7 Tactical Response Reconnaissance Platform for the D90. Allows me to set up equipment on top for a better field of view. Also works super for high perch camera shots with a tripod, even has mounting points for the ladder. It has a secondary function, which is familiar to old series Land Rover owners,; it acts much like the old Safari Roof, which had a second layer riveted to stiffer rails on the roof of the hard top. It kept direct sunlight off the roof and kept the interior significantly cooler. The deluxe model had vents between the two roofs. They use modified 8mm bolts for the mounting so there is no rattle.
On an unusual note, I was setting off for a ride on the cyclocross bike this morning when I did the shot of the rack. A couple miles down the trail I stumbled across a herd of buffalo. I kind of inched back away from them. They probably still harbor a grudge about the buffalo slaughter. They are kind of large. The only thing I can think of worse is if they succeed in bringing back wooly mammoths. It would probably take a bit of time to get my bike untangled from its tusks after it stomped me flat.
