Fake Engine noise
For those that have coded out the Fake Engine Noise, does it make a big difference? I’m not a huge audiofil so I guess my hearing isn’t as keen or as sharp as others as I’ve done it on other cars I’ve owned and frankly couldn’t tell a difference.
Also, for those that used the GAP IId tool, did you get unclearable faults when you did this activation?
Thanks for the help!!

I haven't coded mine out, but in my P300 the engine noise is so blatantly and obviously fake. It isn't offensive like some other manufacturers (mainly BMW) but a Discovery Sport with the same engine doesn't have the fake engine noise and it isn't that much quieter.
The P400, on the other hand: that was exceedingly blatant!
At least in my '24 P300, it's hard to detect any fake engine noise. I've tried to hear it, including by putting my ear to the speakers, and I'm not convinced (where else might it come from?). If there is any, they could have made it sound better. I mean, it doesn't sound bad, but it's just a completely typical, subdued, inoffensive engine noise. Why go to the trouble just for that?

Interesting........ I've often thought I heard something coming out of the speakers but just thought it was my imagination. I'll now pay more attention to where it's coming from.

Throwing in my two cents...I have a P300 and I thought coding out the fake engine noise made a huge difference, in particular when on the highway. You wouldn't think so, but there's always a low level amount of background hum that was coming out of the speakers even at cruise. It was enough of a difference for me that I felt that alone justified the GAP tool's cost for me. And, no, I did not get any faults let alone ones that could not be cleared.
Interesting! I'm all for reducing noise, so I'll look for a chance to try that. Thanks.
