So I am first time owner of a 2020 defender, let me say I love it, however I hopes it not true about it liability. We have had it 15 months and it has a coolant leak going into the turbo and the gasket is on backlog till the 20th of February which really sucks, hopefully this is due to everyone getting back to work after the pandemic, also the service fees is nothing to write home about. I think once the warranty has ran I will be looking for other service providers but all in all love the defender and hope the rumors are not true.
Yes, Kev--Land Rover's dismal reliability reputation is purely anecdotal and can't be backed up with any actual facts. Try J.D. Power Initial Quality for a start.
Land Rover quality is abysmal. Anyone who says anything different is a moron.
Yeah, I was told the same thing when I bought my Evoque. First gen, first year in production, which is normally a no-no. ‘Don’t buy a Land Rover, especially not the first model year.’ Well, I was stubborn, didn’t listen to anybody. Owned it for eight years. Never saw the dealer again. Not one problem. Not even a hiccup. Loved every minute of ownership, through snow and sand, never let me down, outperformed other vehicles around me, all the while looking good enough to draw comments from strangers in parking lots on how good it looked. Enjoy your vehicle, don’t look over your shoulder, you’ll miss the view in front of you.

Your Defender is junk but it looks really cool and people will turn their heads to see it as you drive by. Enjoy!!

I’ve had 4 Land Rover products and zero headaches. Are they perfect? No… are they Toyota reliable!? Hell no. Are they the most unreliable, reliable SUVs on the planet? Yes! And I love them.
I don't understand why this is always a big topic. It's not a mystery that Land Rovers are not Toyotas, the information is out there for everyone to understand. Do I wish they were better, yes, have I ever been stranded by one, no. They are quirky, just depends on how much quirk you want to put up with.
This stillruns guy is a classic though, drives a D1, talk about a piece of garbage. ?
