Default Footwell lights always on with headlights

Both the front footwell lights on my 22 p400 are always on full-brightness when I turn my headlights or front foglights on. I believe they're only supposed to on full brightness briefly when entering the car, and them dim to a low level after a few seconds. Mine never dim. And even in daylight if I turn on my fogs/headlights they come on full brightness.

Anyone Know what's wrong and how to fix it?

I don't think I have any control of min outside of stealth mode. The dimming **** next to the EPB switch might also affect it. Been a while since I checked that. What do they do when you activate stealth mode? I like as dark a cabin when driving dark roads. Stealth mode certainly dims them to their minimum.

Stealth just dims them if I turn off the screen.
The **** dims everything, including the dash.

Neither is the solution.

The issue is the footwell lights are on full brightness with the headlights. That's not normsl.

yeah, I figured that's what supposed to happen, but mine never dim when headlights are on.

I'm asking for a solution. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?

ok. Lets see if i can explain this properly. On the overhead panel there is a shiny black bar just above the yellow airbag sign it is not marked. If you touch the center part it turns off and on the overhead light and footwell lights. The left or right side turns on and off the map lights. You might have inadvertently turned it on. When you get in the car and turned on the ignition touch the center portion to turn off the overhead light and foot well lights. LIGHTS

NOTES5-door vehicle is illustrated, 3-door vehicles are similar.

Interior lighting locations and operation:
  1. Front reading lights: Move a finger close to, or touch, the relevant lens to switch on or off.
  2. Front interior courtesy light: To switch on or off, touch the centre of the lens briefly. To switch automatic illumination on or off, touch the lens until the light flashes. In auto mode, the lights illuminate when a door is opened.
  3. Second row reading lights: Press the lens to operate.
  4. Upper loadspace lights: Illuminate when the taildoor is opened.
  5. Lower loadspace lights: Illuminate when the taildoor is opened.
  6. Vanity mirror lights: Lift the cover to switch on.
  7. Front seat footwell lights: Automatically illuminate when the doors are opened.

I know how the lights should operate. mine are obviously not functioning correctly.

all interior lights operate correctly, except the footwells.
footwells come on when headlights turn on.
when headlights are off, footwells are off.
footwells do not come on bright when opening door and then dim down.

I think I have a wiring problem. Or, it's possible that something glitched when my pivi was unlocked. (Previous owner had every known option turned on.)

anybody have a solution for turning footwells off?

Pull them out if you don't like them? It's easy to do it or replace with colored lights from powerfulUK.

What does your dealer say about it?

Maybe when your previous owner hacked your pivi to enable functions they configured the lights that way. Either on purpose or by mistake. If this is the case bummer and buyer be ware. Dealer can surly resolve your issue. Even if you feel they are uneducated with the brands they sell. Getting it resolved under warranty should be your biggest worry. Let us know how it goes.
