Is fully loaded P400 2020 HSE worth less than 22 i4 Trek?
Is my fully loaded 2020 P400 HSE worth less than an i4 2022 Orange special edition trek?
my build has the winch, the rear locker and tow hooks and a 1 inch lift and a light bar and maxx traxx and a highlift Jack and 5 spare tires and wheels....
what’s everyone’s thoughts?
is the trek special edition worth it? It’s only an i4 engine versus my i6 p400 and full leather. Both mine and the trek have the rear locker. The trek has the larger nav screen and the cool stuff on the roof rack and rear trunk has the dog guard.
is the orange special edition trek worth it??? The trek msrp is 85k my msrp was 82k but I got it for 81k...
After putting in the e-Diff, you could sell it?? As much as I love the work that went into the 20, if it was a choice between the two - I'd keep the D-HSE. There are a lot of cool things in there. IF it has the e-diff (which I think), you will upgrade to the lights ($2.5k there), the 18" wheels (likely another $3.5k to switch calipers, wheels, tires), all the toys on the rack are another $1k. Wait, I see a lazer light bar on yours, so deduct that. It would be close. If it were a new choice, I'd take the trek. Because it is a change, I'd keep the P400. Just about the only diff are the wheels. You'd lose the step bars, but I figure if you go the wheels you'll eventually get sliders and the Trek doesn't have those. There is the cool badging and trim work. While I love the looks, I'm anxious about the longevity of the wrap.
To me total personal choice. It's a close trade off. No wrong choices they are so close. But, if I had to pick the two with no investments, I'd go Trek. However, if I had the P400 - I'd keep it. So my advice would be to keep the P400. My P400 is just about in the same spot yours is and there's a Trek at my local Dealer. I pinged my sales dude and decided rather than spending the diff to flip to it, I'll invest the money in the "running gear" I plan to change this winter (calipers, 18", tires). Now if it were Big Barry or Big Bertha....
PS - The Model year means nothing to me. JLR has so Fu-bar'd their year that no one believes it's a '22, soon to be '23. It's really just a year diff between the two. To me it's more about the mileage on the vehicle vs. year. If you have 20k miles+, I'd switch my opinion if it were a zero cost difference.

Any “special” or limited edition will be considered to be “worth” more than the average production vehicle. This is purely from a “collectibility” or exclusiveness standpoint. Not saying logically a regular production vehicle is not better though. Tech moves at such fast pace, regular production will always be better the next model year.

The biggest difference in what I see here is that if you give up the I6 engine, you will also practically give up towing more than 4500 lbs. Something to consider.
Seriously, yeah, if this weren’t P400 vs. P300 the discussion would be interesting. But giving up a hundred hp in a 5000#+ SUV? For my use case, at least, that would be the deal-killer.
I love the trek color and functionality and special features and special edition and in the pic above I have the silver five star rims.

The color is a bad wrap. The wheels are after market. As for the other features, most of them can be bought from Lucky8 directly. Personally I wouldn't "upgrade." Trek editions and trophy edition cars are just dealership candy to attract people who want to pay over sticker for something "special" when in fact, its a parts bin special. If this was a true paint job, we'd be talking.
