Clicked on the link provided and these appear to be the same ones I just removed from my Defender and tossed in the garbage. Had them on my front seats for about 18 months and one day while vacuuming the interior I pulled the seat bottoms up to vacuum and found that the backing material had began to disintegrate leaving this mess behind. And the fine particles don’t vacuum up easily, this is AFTER vacuuming. At first glance thought it was just a dust-like deposit but the vacuum was ineffective, as it seems to be firmly adhered to the seat. I’m going to have to come up with a solution to remove all the residue left behind without damaging the material and finish of the seats. Living in Florida, not sure if this problem is a result of the heat but unless one lives in a cold weather climate, I would venture to say that in most parts of the country any vehicle sitting in the sun with closed windows will approach temps well over 100 degrees or more. Purchase at your own risk, but I wouldn’t give them a thumbs up.
I've had the VPLES0560 covers on my front seats for the past 2.5 years straight. Never took them off or even peeked under until WTFChuck just prompted me to check how mine were holding up. Aside from looking a bit like a semi-loosely fitted garbage bag (they're not pretty, but do the job), mine have performed as designed and have held up spectacularly.
Interesting. I have these on my front seats as well (for about 24 months now). Took them off about a week ago to wash them in the washing machine (muddy ...) and didn't notice any of that white stuff flaky material that's pictured above. If I did, I would absolutely throw them out. The rears of mine are black vinyl looking just like the front, ie are the rears of yours white?

Definitely two different experiences between your set and mine. The underside of mine had a white backing, which is what is seen my pics. The only other difference noted is that my seats are the heated/cooled and have the tiny perforations, if that has any effect on them. Mine were an older version, possibly that was corrected in the set you have. Anyway, I’m glad you didn’t suffer the same breakdown of the backing that I had. I just wanted to share my instance with the Defender group. I did like their performance while they were on there, since we spend a lot of days at the beach and the material helped keep sand and sweat from staining the seats. Unfortunately, mine didn’t hold up like yours did. If the construction of them has changed, I would consider replacing them as I actually did like them.
@robn Those seat covers look like hostages covered in tarps! Do they have anything to tighten them up? I expected a much better fitment than that for the cost.
