The Mickey Thompson's are very interesting but I can't find any reviews on them on our car. What about the Nitto Ridge Grappler?

I would put nitto ridge grappler on par with the bfgoodrich KO2, heavy tough stiff tires

The Ridge Grapplers appear to be available in both XL and LT (E-load), at least in the 275/55R20 size that should fit the Defender without rubbing. The XL will be quite a bit lighter and nowhere near as stiff as the 10-ply Light Truck version, probably netting a better quality ride and mileage on the road, at the expense of some strength - particularly on the sidewall - when off-roading. They would definitely be on my short list if I were running on 20" rims and took my Defender off-road frequently. I had them on my old LR4 - although a different size - and they were pretty much indestructible, started out very quiet but got noisier over time. Rotation every 3/5K miles would help keeping them quiet longer.

I had the Cooper AT on my 4Runner for six years. Excellent tire. Just replaced them with the Cooper HT. Another excellent tire. If you aren’t rock crawling, you really should avoid the BFG. They are in my opinion the toughest AT tire made, but, they weigh a lot and are loud. The Cooper and GY are better for the average owner. Just my two cents.

I have 2022 X Dynamic Se with OEM 22 inch rims. I am not getting any answers from LR or the retailer. They told me that calipers are different for all wheel variations. I really wanted to go down to 18, but I not comfortable with after market options. My question is, can I switch to 19 or 20 rims without changing the calipers (both front and back).

currently there are two caliper sizes on the defender 350mm and 380mm, if you are going down to 20inch wheels it won’t make a difference the wheels will fit without any changes, but dont go down to 18 inch wheels as the complication will begin, and stay away from 19inch wheels as there are no tire options except the goodyear all terrains and duratracs.

The Lucky8 18 inch caliper swap page has a comment: "This kit replaces your stock P400 350mm calipers with a smaller caliper set up. This new configuration allow you to fit the desired 18in Tuff Ant Wheels while still keeping your Land Rover stock rotors, pads and hardware. **Please note if you have a 380mm set up you will need a different kit**", so that makes me think there are actually 380mm (22's?), 350mm (19/20?), and then either different rotors or just different calipers for the 18 inch setup. I 100% could be wrong, but sounds like it's possible going from 22's to 20's isn't a direct fit in all cases.

Thanks for the advise. I can get some good off road tires, if i go down to 19in can i use my current calipers?
