Default Headlight lens

Went outside this morning to wash the Defender and my jaw dropped when I saw the majority of my passenger side headlight lens broken and missing. I don’t recall any sounds or impacts to the vehicle in recent drives so can’t imagine how or when it occurred. There were no shards anywhere nearby so I assume it happened while on the road. Does anyone know if the lens itself is a replaceable part, or will it require the whole assembly? I’ll be making the trip to my dealer’s parts department to inquire if I can just order the lens alone, but if anyone has any insight into this situation it would be helpful. Either way, I’m sure it won’t be cheap, so if anyone knows of salvage vehicles for parting out, please pass that info along. Thanks in advance for any help provided.

Man, that sux majorly !
For what is worth, there is a cover on eBay that may help you till you get your replacement headlight (and maybe after).
I got from Chris ( NewDefenderParts ) a full cover, that works pretty well.
The light cap on the vehicle may be non-replaceable and the lamp itself may be upwards of 2k. But, dealer will tell you exactly.

Ouch! Thanks for the info, I’ll look into that.

Crossing my fingers for you...But think not. It all depends if the glass is on the Bezel (#3) or not.

This may do it for you if that Bezel doesn't! Link

Note, it is NOT an OEM part, but I'd make a try before I pay the $$$ for the entire assembly. Read more at the link. Good luck, again.

Thanks GavinC and GrouseK9, I will look into those options. Much better than paying $1500+ for a whole new assembly when it is only a polycarbonate lens broken. I knew the Defender community would come through. Props to you guys.

Make a claim on your insurance, there is way more to that than just changing a lens

Bezel is just black gloss plastic. The powerfulUK one is the lens, I think you have to heat up the assembly, remove it carefully (adhesive) and re-adhesive it on (there is a special sealant made for this).

I'd bet dealer says it's "entire new headlight" as the lens is not a JLR service part.

Funny thing is, I just changed insurance co’s and putting in a claim might not bode well. I’ll spend a nice morning tearing it down, and should be able to fix it in a few hours for a couple hundred bucks. PowerfulUK’s replacement might be the route I take, and his videos are great. Did front and rear mud flaps, side steps, dynamic directionals in the side mirrors, and the LED reverse lights, dash cam overhead harness tap, with his vids as a guide and saved a bunch. I’ll give an update when complete.
