Default Heated side mirrors

My understanding is the heated door mirrors are a standard option. I was looking for a button this morning to turn these on but didn't see one. Does anyone know how the heat function is controlled? I thumbed through the owners manual and didn't notice anything about it. With Audi there was a small rotary button to turn the heat on for the mirrors. The buttons I'm seeing in the defender allow to adjust and / or fold.

I think if you turn on the defrosters it should warm up also the side mirrors.

Page 100 in the owners' manual:
Note: The door mirror heaters operate automatically, according to the external temperature and the heated rear window operation.

Nice find. Very odd that it 'cares' about the external temperature AND the rear window operation, neither one should matter IMO. I'll have to check that out. Sometimes it's just an extremely humid morning and / or thick fog leaving the windows and mirrors steamed up. In those cases I put on the heated front windshield to clear it immediately, and keep it clear, which was a huge reason why I wanted the winter package, it works far better than any blower motor for defogging purposes. I would use the same method for the mirrors but it sounds like unless it's freezing outside I'll be SOL with that. The rear window having anything at all to do with mirrors next to the front windows is not a very intuitive design either. Sometimes a dedicated button is simply the way to go, it's just one more notch on the **** that's already there.

It's actually an intuitive design that those who live in the Midwest, you can have moisture in the windows or during winter snow in these windows which you know will not spare the mirrors. With one switch it takes care of it.

You're absolutely right. Sometimes with heavy Rain in the Summer I want to put the mirror heaters manually on.
VAG middle position is by far superior over JLR ( and Mini etc)
So for now I'am hoping on a software mod not related to temp if you put your rear window heater on together with the mirrors..

See below, more Rain to come in the future. Please JLR fix this.!

Exactly, limited visibility is a safety issue. Thanks for posting!

It looks like my MY22 only has driver’s side heated mirror. Did the earlier years have it on both?

My 2022 has heated mirrors both sides. Why do you think yours is only on the driver's side?

I noticed that the driver’s side mirror on mine has a tiny little transparent wire around the mirror surround but the passenger does not. Is that little wire for the heated mirror?
