Default Height of Defender 90 in Access Mode? Need info for auto transporter.

I'm purchasing and shipping a 2022 D90 across country and I need to know the total height of the car when it's lowered in Access Mode. The regular height is 77.5". Goal would be to be under 76".

Some auto transport companies charge double for tall cars like the Defender because they cannot double stack them.

Anyone have any recommendations for a good auto transport company? I've called Plycar, Intercity and Reliable so far. I don't want to use a broker.

Thanks!

Also to note....I don't have a roof rack on my car.

Is the total height calculated based on the top of the shark fin antenna?

Hey, I’ve been wondering this too because I don’t have the tallest garage in the world. According to this thread, the normal height is 77.6”, and the air suspension lowers an additional 1.6”, so should be around 76”. Yeah, I believe when in access mode and you check the vehicle dimensions it says the height is 6'3" but I can double check this evening.

If you can confirm the height tonight I would really appreciate it!

Can confirm, screen says 6'3" in access mode and 6'5" in normal mode. I am on the factory 20inch wheels and all-season tires, not sure if that makes a difference but thought worth mentioning.

Just thinking out loud...is the driver going to get in, have it air up to normal height, and then scrape the roof backing off the transporter.

I think it will stay in access mode below a certain speed, at least that is what I have observed myself. There may also be some 'transport mode' that also will lock it at a specific height.

Oh man, that would be terrible! Hopefully they give themselves a bit of room to spare!

I actually got a good estimate from Horseless Carriage Transport. I've used them before and they are reputable.
