I'm so old...I really miss the days of driving an S4 avant with a manual transmission and V8 engine. Wagons and manuals are nearly extinct, at least I can still get a V8 before those are gone as well.

Be nice if the "software experts" from both companies would focus on improving the vehicles they are already selling. I'd rather skydive through a severe thunderstorm then get behind the wheel of a an autonomous JLR SUV. The pains involved when these hit the lots will be monumental.

Autonomous driving systems aren't usually manufactured by the car co, it's a sub assembly like everything else. Makes me feel much more confident they won't F it up.

Wonder what the alternative is going to be if they don't have the Chips available. The trunk monkey? Chips or chimps, you won't have to drive this one!

I have had autonomous driving for years while living in Africa. You see you can get a driver that is fully capable of autonomous driving for a subscription of around $50 a month. I have used similar systems while living in Egypt and India with similar driving systems and subscription costs. What is truly amazing is the system's voice recognition. It gets 99.9% correct when I voice command them. Apple seems to only get the lame Siri system to only understand 72%. Perhaps we should get these countries to export their, what seems to be very advanced autonomous systems, to North America.
