Did a self-install and had no problems. I did a wet install using a small sprayer bottle and water with a couple drops of soap added. Although I will say I had a second person helping and would highly recommend having another set of hands present. Makes the job much less frustrating. Also, take your time, be patient and don’t try to rush it.
@WTFChuck Where did you get your decal? I'm looking for, the longer version but am hoping to order from a US vendor to minimize shipping cost. I know PowerfulUK has, them but hoping to find one closer to home.
I attempted to install the genuine LR decal myself yesterday. It did not go well! 😕 I’m a very meticulous and careful person, but I just could not prevent a few wrinkles from happening at the front corner. I tried to carefully peel it back and squeeze the wrinkles out but wasn’t able to fix it.
I may attempt to try the wet install version from PowerfulUK. Or I may just pay the dealer to do it.

Hah, I suppose after successfully installing a few other mods I gained a false sense of confidence. My issues started when I pulled half the decal over and the tape dividing the decal came up… didn’t realize this until after half of it was stuck to the hood.
I’m not sure I’ll shell out another $100+ on one… unless somebody here can convince me otherwise. Lol
Wanting to do the extended arches but I think the rear view (from behind) makes them look tacked on, which in all fairness, they are. I saw a defender equipped with them while driving home yesterday, there was definitely a noticeable overlap from the body to the plastic arch. Didn’t look clean, but perhaps they were installed wrong.
Just play safe and go get it done at the dealer. Will cost more of course, but it’ll be their problem and you’ll get back a Defender with the perfect hood decal.

I did mine with a wet install product. Ive used both dry and wet vinyl before and have found wet to be easier to work, particularly when you're going to have visible edges that will show if the product was stretched.
Wet install isn't hard, but it takes time and patience. There's more curves to the hood than one thinks, and curves mean wrinkles.
If you don't want to DIY i would take the vinyl to a wrap shop and pay them before I would pay the dealer. They are NOT pros at vinyl install, and certainly should not be able to charge you JLR shop rate for it.
I have an extra "New in Box" hood decal if anyone wants a screaming deal. Just PM me.
@PNW Rover Love to know more on the details. What you looking to get. I'm in PNW too. Been debating getting the decl for years and I'm a sucker for a good deal.
That’s the thing I like about the decal on my black hood. It’s very subtle
Also for the install, my friend and I did it and the even though we taped it down a lot to ensure it wouldn’t budge when peeling up the first half… it was very handy to have the second person to help hold it while squeegeeing it down
I passed on the hood decal because I didn't know what it would look like with the black hood on the Carpathian Edition. I thought might be hard to see, but this pic is making reconsider. The matte look of the decal on the black hood is a nice contrast and definitely noticeable.

Here is a great video of a Carpathian Edition with the hood decal, I think it looks great.
I prefer the powerfuluk longer version of the sticker to line up with the fake check plate. But either looks good.
I have done wet method even on ‘dry’ stickers and it works fine. But i have not it with this particular sticker though. I would not do dry method myself but have done the wet method on a prior defender with the powerfuluk version.
