How to disable folding mirrors?

We use these in MN
I know there is a "winter mode" for the windshield wipers on the Defender, and I tested it and all it does is raise the position of the wipers. I do not see what good it does, but it would be nice to disable the folding mirrors at the same time you put the wiper blades in "winter mode".
Cold weather and moisture is definitely not friendly for folding mirrors.

Both the folding mirrors and winter mode wipers are key in MN winters. Seeing parked cars (SUVs usually) on snow congested streets with missing mirrors on the driver's side is a common sight in the Twin Cities. The wiper mode is so that you can lift them off of the windshield so that brushing snow off when returning to your parked car is a little easier.

I have been annoyed at this feature since i got my truck.
There is no official way to diasable auto folding mirrors while locking or unlocking. You can disable the folding mirrors all together, but then, they will not fold in when you press the mirror buttons. So, currently it is all or nothing. I may have found a setting that finally will disable the folding during locking. I will report back after i test on mine

My mirrors didn't successfully fold open today after a freezing night in this subzero Midwest storm. Made some sad electric motor noises before failing 
Would be an easy option to integrate into Pivi I imagine.

Discovery 5 (2017) there is a hidden toggle procedure that enables or disables automatic folding on lock/unlock, and it is done using the mirror adjustment buttons, not the touchscreen.
Procedure to Toggle Auto-Fold Mirrors (Discovery 2017)
This is undocumented in the owner’s manual but works on many 2017–2019 Discoverys:- Sit in the driver’s seat with the doors closed.
- Ignition ON
- Press the START button without pressing the brake (accessory/ignition mode).
- Press the START button without pressing the brake (accessory/ignition mode).
- On the driver door mirror control, press and hold BOTH mirror selector buttons simultaneously (left + right).
- Hold for ~10 seconds
- The mirrors may fold/unfold once to confirm the change.
- The mirrors may fold/unfold once to confirm the change.
- Release the buttons.
- Turn the ignition OFF and lock the vehicle to test.
What This Does
- It toggles the setting:
- If mirrors were auto-folding on lock → they will stop
- If they were not auto-folding → they will start
- If mirrors were auto-folding on lock → they will stop
- You may need to repeat the procedure once if you are unsure which state you set.
Important Notes
- This does not remove manual folding — you can still fold mirrors on demand by briefly pressing both buttons.
- The behavior is stored in the BCM and persists across restarts.
- This works on most MY2017 Discoverys, but some later software updates removed or broke this shortcut, in which case dealer or IIDTool coding is the only option.
