Three is a low bar. I think you should have some more options (5, 10, 15, 20). Great survey, though.

took mine out for the first time since a year of ownership. we have a off road park somewhat close. it was a blast but if you are looking to keep your Defender nice and new it’s not for you. i can see why there is some many protection pieces you can add on

Even though the economics were way different it still pained me to scratch hell out of my 2014 Jeep the first time I got on a trail that was narrower than the Jeep. But I swallowed hard and reminded myself why I had the thing and never looked back.

I’ve already done that (pax side scratches) to the 110. Did it three months after delivery. It bothers me more than the Jeep, because the Dfdr is a prettier truck, or at least one that looks better dolled up for the symphony. But it is absolutely pointless for me to own the damn thing if I don’t take it off-road; there are much better on-road alternatives for fewer dollars. So I will take it off road and it will get scratched and maybe even banged up a little, and I’ll have to learn to live with it.

As long as I keep it a long time it probably won’t make a lot of difference. What I hope doesn’t happen is that I beat it up a little and then it starts being a POS and I decide to sell it in the next 3 years.

It's a poll with very limited options and a subjective qualifier.

We've got to "off-road" to get to a house in the OBX (beach and dunes) but we take the Wrangler a lot on the summer. How many times a year varies...

... But none of them involves "trails".

Is that a "real" use?!?

I already took it offroad with street tires last weekend, very interesting experience. However the main adventure use of my Defender will be snowy mountain passes.. so it doesn't really count as "offroad" but still a useful application for the vehicle.

I missed this first time through.

Maybe I have such a low bar after daily-driving my JKUS for 6+ years now, but I dunno.

We use the D110 as a family road trip truckster a lot. Besides the OBX stuff we'll roll across PA to visit family, haul my wife's Ducati on a hitch carrier, or roll up to NYS or to skiing in VT (most recently).

I think it ABSOLUTELY excels in on-road manners for all those trips. It's a dream on the highway, comfortable for the kids, packs plenty, has excellent amenities like cabin lighting, center console fridge, and the clear sight rear view camera so I don't have to give a crap about loading cargo to the ceiling blocking my view.

I think it's one of the best choices.... at least for us.

Bahhhh. For 80-large I'd be in a Cayenne or X5 if I wanted German road-mastery and didn't need some more serious off-road chops.

Or, I'd go the Japanese route and have a great people-hauler that could actually be relied upon to go the first 80,000 miles without a trip back to the dealer.
