Hybrid System Fault
2024 Defender 110 P400 MHEV - started vehicle this morning and received the following red triangle warning - "OK to drive with caution Hybrid system fault detected".
It's -4 degrees here this morning by the way...I'm wondering if it's a product of the cold temps.
Anyone experience this warning before?

I experienced this last summer on my 2020 Defender 110 P400. I never brought it in to the dealer to figure out. This was my un scientific conclusion and that fault hasn't shown since. My battery tender was not connected to my truck and it sat for some time. Usually I drive some distance before turning off the truck. However at that time I stopped to chat with a friend right after driving and came back and drove away and that error message came on. I parked it and did a google search and could only come up with some Jaguar cars and nothing conclusive came out of it. I drove it back to my garage and plugged in my battery tender and let it charge for a few days. 8 months later and many miles I haven't seen the message again. Glitch, not sure....it's a land rover! Could it be the cold? How old is your 12V battery? I believe there is an old thread on this topic if you can find it.
Thanks.
I'm hoping that this is one of those typical LR "features" where you shut down the vehicle, lock the doors, and let it sit for a bit.
I'll go back out and start it up again when we hit our high of 10 degrees later today to see if the message has cleared itself up.
Not sure how old the 12v battery is, but this is a new 2024 that I took delivery of in early January so it shouldn't be an aging battery issue.
I did search the threads for "hybrid system fault" but didn't notice any posts that addressed this specific warning.

Hmm. It probably was just a glitch in the matrix, I agree.
But -- if it were mine, and it was that new, I would run it through the dealer to log it and have them pull codes and document it. You do want that service receipt saying you had this error when the hybrid system craps out when it has 50,001 miles on it.
In the 4 years I’ve had my P400, have never seen this fault.
It actually would make sense your 12v battery is low if you just got the car (from being shipped to you -- transport). I would put it on a CTEK AGM type battery tender full time for a week or so when parking it if you have one handy.

Main vehicle battery charge and condition is extremely important for the MHEV system health. There are a fair amount of high voltage relay failures that are being attributed to low main vehicle battery condition. Basically the low voltage causes a higher current requirement at the HV relays when they make. This may cause damage to the contacts.
MHEV owners should consider adding an additional main vehicle battery and/or supplemetal charging of the main vehicle battery. In addition, it may be a good idea to preventatively replace the main vehicle battery to avoid the consiquntial damage that may be caused by the low voltage condition instead of waiting for it to get weak and /or fail.

UPDATE: So I started the vehicle yesterday afternoon at the high temp of the day (~11 degrees) and everything worked as normal...no warning messages.
Started again this morning at 8 degrees and no issues.

We have had that come on twice on our 2024 P400. Both times we were up north at around -5F or colder. Both went away as soon as temp warmed up. Had it down around zero with no issues so it seems to be only in very extreme cold.
LR says "Extremely cold climate conditions can affect the hybrid battery and limits the ability of the car to re-start. The vehicle can still be driven"

So the other weekend I installed the TuffAnt rear storage tray, it replaces the factory molded styrofoam thingy that holds the jack etc. In installing it, one of the mounts towards the 2nd row you have to pop the clip and slide a piece in, then put the clip back. I was trying to figure out what I was messing with. It turned out to be an air duct from the A/C (or winter heat) into the 48v system. So maybe JLR knows the MHEV needs to be at a decent temperature to function.
Totally unrelated, but thought I'd share.
