I agree. Thats why I'll test once I get the vehicle back. Just passing along what my dealer said, they've been great so far. The fact that Simon from powerfuluk was able to replicate the issue with the tail light out of the vehicle (no software controlling it) makes me believe that it isn't a software issue.

Not anything exciting but called Horberg Los Angeles. They ran my Vin (21 Defender X) and said it was under recall and I have to bring it in for them to test it. I asked if they had replacement lights ready if the test failed and he wasn't sure. No reason they would hold my car right...?

I read the recall was labeled as voluntary. The dealers seem to be holding from selling and turning over effected defenders as there might be some sort of legal issue with selling a vehicle with a known safety issue. Now that you own it the liability might pass on to you. Just speculating here.

It sounds like its going to take at least months for all these defenders to source the parts to get a fix. I wondering if they would give you a nice loaner for that time period?

ha possibly but I had a buddy who had a problem with his Jaguar several years back and had a Maserati loaner for a months....the dealer was Jaguar, Land Rover, Rolls Royce, and Maserati. So maybe mileage may vary?

I'd take a full size auto-b for a few months but nothing else. Came from a supercharged sport. Next available appt was in two weeks, kinda wild.

Yeah my wife had one for 4 months while her XF was waiting for a new engine after 35k miles. We beat that car like it owed us money.

3000 pairs of smoked lights out there though and they say 3+ months.

What would 9000 months of loaners cost?

As I'm waiting on my 110-X to be built, I for one would be fine if JLR just put RED tail lights instead of the problematic smoked ones. But then there is still the chip shortage and production stoppage to wait on....
