Installation of a Amazon Side Step nerf bar on my 2023 Defender 90
Sorry moderators, I posted this video in the other defender forum and it should have been in this one as my Defender is a 2023 not the older one. In this video I show how I installed the Amazon $250 side step nerf bar on my 2023 Defender 90 X-Dynamic. I was impressed with the product and I really hope this video helps someone.
Thanks for sharing. These definitely feel like a requirement on the 90 of you have any intention of using the rear seats as I’m quickly learning.
I’m curious about the bolt placement. You mentioned the side bolts that require molding to be removed aren’t needed, but in the linked product video that seems to be the sole attachment method.
Are there multiple ways to install these or did LR change from the side mounts to under-body at some point?
Thanks!

I agree, anyone wanting to get into the back needs these and they definitely help me as well up front. The kit comes with 4 bolts for each bracket. Two of the larger bolts for each bracket mount directly to the underside of the frame and those are the ones you see me install in my video. The two much smaller bolts mount to the side of the frame but you need to remove the molding to get to the bolt holes and that will require much more work. I have read online that many people have just installed the two larger bolts and it has held up just fine and there is also a UK side rail kit that also only uses the bottom two bolts and does not even include the side bolts (as I did). I took my Defender off road a few weeks back and the rails help up perfectly (I hit the underside of the rails one or twice on a stump or two). Hope this helps.
BTW, I was afraid the quality of these Chinese side steps might be poor, but I was pleasantly surprised. Only time will tell how well they hold up, but for now I am pretty happy with them.

For the 110 defender you can use these measurements:

It's pretty common to skip the side bolts on these installations. I've seen where even the factory parts are installed as a DIY and the bolts are skipped. I've bounced on bars installed like that and they are still solid. Obviously adding the side bolts is better, but if you aren't too rough on your stuff cutting this corner is ok.
OP - is there a link to the bars you purchased? It's always good when someone finds a good aftermarket solution.
