Default Integrated air compressor install w/ auxiliary climate

Soon I'll be installing the LR Integrated air compressor into my D110. Powerful UK's video walks me through the install, but my car has the rear air (auxiliary climate) option. So there's another silver box that covers the rear air handling unit. Has anyone done the air compressor install into a vehicle fitted with this? Not sure what I should expect when I remove the cover and the rear side panels. Hopefully won't have to touch any of the rear air assembly.

And for the life of me, I can't get this cover off! I'm sure its just got some clips, but I've pulled and pryed the edges so hard, I'm afraid I'm going to break something!

I thought the air compressor sits on the left of your picture?

Correct. But in order to install it, the rear quarter panel has to removed which includes removing at least the cover over the rear air unit.

I vaguely remember that there's a fuse panel on the other side (right) of the load space. I would bet that they are both designed similarly (even though it is smaller). There's a ton of videos re: opening it up. Try that route. Sorry I don't have links.

Yeah, that fuse cover on the opposite side pops off really easily. This rear air assist cover is a beast! I can't even find a part number or diagram to help me see what kind of clips or fasteners are on it. I'm thinking it should just come off along with the rear quarter panel when I take everything apart for the air compressor install. Maybe someone out there has popped their rear air cover off or know how its done?

Have you tried the service manual yet? I dug through it for an unrelated question and I know if you search for "RHVAC" or "rear evaporator coil" it comes up.

Removal/reinstall instructions are around page 8193 of the P400 workshop manual.

https://landroverforums.com/forum/20...0-p400-109129/

Search term would be "loadspace side trim"

Air compressor install is about 30 pages long from page 1453.

Hope that helps. Good luck.

If you wouldn’t mind documenting the process a bit I’d appreciate it. I have the same set up as you and like the idea of the built in compressor.

@allegedly Will do! I managed to find the compressor (part#VPLES0617) online from LR Direct in the UK (sourced directly from Land Rover UK) for a great price ($750 including shipping to US… new, warrantied and genuine). Shipped and arriving in a few days. Strangely the price has gone up about $40 on their site in the last couple days since I ordered, but still the best price around and a little easier to justify than the $900-$1200 that dealers and other sites are asking. Even though the part carries a one year warranty, I realize that I’ll be on my own if something goes wrong, since it will not be dealer installed.

I’ll start documenting my install as soon as the part arrives!
