Default iPhone and wireless charging problems

I recently purchased a 2020 Defender with wireless charging. I have an iPhone 13 with a big camera hump. My phone won’t charge while laying on the mat and I assume it is because it won’t lay completely flat. Somebody must have a work around for this problem?

I have a 13pro Max with a case and camera protector. I can get mine to charge with few problems. Are you making sure it's centered as best you can and then leaving it? Sometimes it takes a little bit for it to recognize the charger. If you keep the Car Play screen up while driving you can see the charging state pretty easily.

Does it work without the case?

I have the 13 pro. I took it out of the otter box case to test it. The system does not seem to recognize it. How long should it take?

30 seconds at the most.
Do you have the latest IOS installed?
What software version do you have on the PIVI?

Both the phone and PIVI are up to date.

Try moving left and right in the charge area. You have to find a sweet spot for it to work. I find i have to be off center to the left on an iPhone 14 Pro.

I messed around with it a little more with it today and did find a sweet spot. It has to be exactly there to work.

And even when it "works" it'll mostly just bake your phone. When I want to actually charge my phone I use USB.

Newest PIVI patch lists improved/more tolerant charging position as a fix. However, it still cooks the phone.

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max running iOS 17.3.1 in Apple's leather case w.magnetic wallet

Prior versions of Pivi Pro (3.x to 4.1) I noted there was a sweet spot to get the phone to charge (with wallet removed but still in case). There were some instance where the phone did get warm to very warm - but the internal heat cut off to disable phone or stop charging never kicked in. Note: I have had heat cut off / shut downs happens with the iPhone in my motorcycle tank bag map case in many previous iPhone and iPads... obviously moving the devices to inside the tank bag and out of the hot sweltering sun fixed that overheating problem.

After the recent update to Pivi Pro 4.1.1 it appears the sweet spot has become better - less finicky (as noted in LR's update notes) - but I'd want more time to pay more attention to that situation. I have always noticed there was / is a bit of a pregnant pause before the charging kicked in. That appears to be a shorter pause but again I haven't specifically time tested that condition.

Overall does appear to be better as first glance. More time to see if that proves out.
