Default Issues to Address before Taking Posession

Hi Everyone, I'm picking up my new 110S in two weeks, and I was wondering if there are any known issues that I should ask my dealer to address before taking posession?

How do technical servcie bulletins work? Should I expect that the dealer has addressed as many of the servcie bulletins as possibloe before delivery? Or do they wait until something goes wrong and you bring it in?

There are a few issues that I have been reading about that I would like them to address before I take the truck home - the remote key sensor antenna on the driver's side, the A pillar cover coming off, the crinkly noise on the inside of the A pillar. It's hard to decipher the list of TSBs that are on this site, so any psecific TSB numbers would be appreciated.

Am I missing any?

Thanks

I think u have to have & drive the vehicle for a while , to first see if u have any of those issues. Hopefully U won’t! Kinda making a problem or problems that don’t exist. It’s not guaranteed u will have those issues. Thankfully I just got my defender a few weeks ago, No problems!

Your dealer is absolutely not going to do any of this when you pick yours up. Just enjoy the car. If it goes wrong, it will be fixed. But you're already eating away at your future ownership experience with this paranoia. When you're looking for things to go wrong and/or assuming they will, you're setting yourself up for a very disappointing experience where the slightest noise or whatever instantly triggers your Land Rover paranoia and you will assume the worst every time. These are great vehicles. Don't suck the joy out of it before you even take delivery.

in my experience they'll inspect it, take care of any service action campaigns and/or recalls associated with the VIN, make sure any dealer or port-installed accessories are fitted, wash it and that's about it. they definitely will not address any "potential" issues like you mention. as those things are only dealt with if and when they occur per their warranty policy. as others have said, just make sure it looks good, has everything you paid for, then get outta there and enjoy it! good luck...

I ran into an odd one. I took delivery a few weeks back and noticed this on the second day, and that's only because driving it home, I had the sound off. Yes, it's stereo related.

First thing; it's a 110-X w Meridian 700w. What I have is with the volume say anywhere 25% and above, every 14 to 18 seconds, there is a slight dip in the volume, and it even seems to be focused on the right side a little. The dip in sound is about 30%, and lasts for about .3-.5 seconds, and then it bounces right back up. I played with it a little while. Used 2 different iphones and even an itouch, thinking it might be phone related with possibly Siri or like it was quieting to talk on an incoming call or something. I disconnected all mobile devices and tried it with SiriusXM. Yep,... still there. If you're picking up the vehicle, you might want to listen for it.

After proving it wasn't bluetooth or phone related, on the third day I had the woman take it in. The sales guy heard it, set an appointment, and a week later she dropped it off. They've had it since wed of last week, tried reloading some files, and the service guy is thinking possible amp related. They opened a case with LR, and I might hear something tomorrow. I was going to post it as a thread after getting it resolved so someone experiencing the same thing might see it as a reference. I've read every post here since Feb, and no one has mentioned anything like it. It might only be related to the 700w system. Either way, give the stereo a good listen on the acceptance test drive.

That being said, it's a great vehicle and we're very happy with it. Can't wait to get it out and stretch its legs. I second the notion of giving it a good look-over when you pick it up, and then getting it out on the road.

I'd take delivery as is (unless there is a significant cosmetic defect or shipping damage that would make you not want the car, or it came with options you wanted that were for whatever reason not included).

Then in a couple weeks or months, you'll possibly have a list of ****les, then set up an appointment. Nothing springs to mind as "needs to be done before driving off the lot".

Hi again, I thought I would hit up the group with some more questions - this time related to additional coverage packages. I'm buying from Autonation and I would love to get some thoughts on some of thier additional coverage based on what people have seen on thier own trucks:
  • Extended warranty - Administered by Safe Guard. It is thier Platinum coverage. Doesn't cover consumables. Extra year/ 65k - $3589 , 2yrs/75k - $4,214 or 3yrs/100k miles for $5413. These seem high, but I haven;t negotiated yet. I may look into Endurance for this. They are typically recommended the most.
  • Vehicle Protect Plus - Covers wearables/consumables for 48 months 60k miles. Most importantly brake pads and rotors, but not tires. Dealer said that I would probably need new pads and rotors at 20-30k miles. I'm getting a P300 and I will not be towing. Dealer said package would cost around $2500, but new brakes and pads would be $4-5k
  • Wheel and tires - $3k for 48 months, but can spend more to get longer. I'm getting 18's so I'm probably going to say no to this. Also, if I do need new tires, I don;t think I'll want OEMs.
  • Pre-paid maintenance - Quoted $2-3k for 48months 50k miles. Gets you annual (four) oil changes, inspection, etc. I probably won't get this. Seems pricey. While I probably won't wait for the recommended 21k miles. I don't think I'll need them every year.
  • Windshield - $1400. I will probably get this through my own auto insurance.
  • Key protection - $399 - Come on! Really!
Thanks for your input.

personally, i never found any of these things to be useful or work out financially for me. of course your mileage may vary, but i'm a no on all of this stuff. each and every one of those things exist to make extra money for the people who sell them, not to help the people who buy them.

also keep in mind, you have no idea how long you're gonna want to keep the vehicle. sure, you might be planning on keeping it for a long time, but things change.

I said no to all of the above. Only thing I did purchase was the gap insurance.
