I finally broke down and picked up a 2025 110 X-Dynamic SE - Carpathian and a lot of packages. Been wanting one for several years but one thing or another got in the way. Owned too many cars to put here...most of them mod'd in some ways. This guy is going to be a work car for my new company. I had intended to get one a little less loaded, but the residual etc. made this one worth it. I did a lease as its a write off. The rates are ridiculous, and if it were not under my company I would never pay them. But I did a trade and my equity went to the deal and it all ended up ok.
After spending 25k+ on my 2023 Q7 in mods combined with the fact this will be for "work" - I'm going to resist a lot of my modding bugs at least for a while. I'm looking for sidesteps/running boards, and maybe a light bar in the front grill - but skipping the ceramic, etc etc etc.
Dealer was really good to work with...and now being in the PNW - there are a lot of fun places to hit up...with my 4 Dobermans.
I just priced the JLR fixed side steps...installed at dealer is 3.6k. :/ I'll be looking at alternatives. And JLR nixed their own JLR Dash cam as it "obstructs" the windsheild (lol) ..so it has to be aftermarket.
FitCamX is the easiest mod you can do and once there it looks factory. Front light bar from Lucky8 pretty simple DIY job, and while ordering you should also consider their back up lights and overheard cargo space light bar. I’m an inept mechanic and did all of the above in several hours.
I had 3 dogs. Now down to 2. I’m a bloodhound and Labrador guy (also big dogs).
Highly recommend you get something rubberized to protect the top of the rear bumper but more importantly to help the dogs jump in and out. I am usually a “only buy genuine accessories guy” but this is brilliant - it’s rubber - (dont listen to the description which says something about steel, there is no steel, its floppy adhesive rubber) and it’s lasted the past 3 years, I bought it in 2022 -
/. The biggest issue I found was dogs jumping up slipped on the smooth top of the rear bumper when I first got the Defender, this solved that entirely.
I also got the rear quilted cargo liner, which has a little fold down lip that the dogs use to grip when jumping up. It’s an extra step when they’re getting in and out, but mine love it. It hooks on the 2 sides. It also protects the rear setbacks and sides, if you care (I do). It also allows me to open the rear door and sort of keeps the dogs in (sort of) -- they know not to jump out when it’s up.
Both are pictured here. Cannot recommend enough. PS I also got the half height dog guard in the back (half being it’s open on the bottom half, but dog guard on the top half). So if I go to Home Depot I can run stuff under it.

Lucky8 also makes a very nice bumper cover… great to install it as same time as back up lights, but does get a little snug when putting it on with backup lights. I wish I would have trimmed it a bit with a Dremel where it contacts the lights before adhering it with the double sided tape.
Thanks for this...i had been looking at these thru Hunter's Prestige and Powerful...but AMZ is preferred for speed. Just ordered. I was going to PPF that area - but this is an easy fast fix. I also like that cargo liner...that the flap can be up and then drop down when they are exiting. I'll have to order it and then make one for my own brand
So - my Defender is my company car. My new companies (launching Oct) are a pet care company and a 501c3 foundation. I've been in CPG for 30 years, and in dobie rescue for 10, but amped it up the last 2 with me saving over 300 in the last 2 years. My company is not breed specific - it for all dogs. Its a product + education + philanthropy and I will give away over 50% of our net ebitda profit thru the foundation to rescues and shelters, and we have a lot of programs in dev. We also have 20 rescues already on board that we will raise money for directly to support their efforts.
I have had personalized plates for my cars all around Dobies- Dobrwgn, Dobrman, Dobermen, DobrDad, and now...i just ordered DOBROVR.
Just praying the universe will reward me with a good Defender with many trouble free miles. lol
