Default Junction Box Positive terminal cover

Is this red part available separately without having to order the entire electric contact/junction box part? I haven't tried it yet, but it appears that the red part still attached can be removed, there are clips on each side.

Looking at the parts diagram, it appears that it is not a separate part from the junction, and thus cannot be purchased separately.

The part that the cover is attached to is #10 on the diagram. Part number is LR131049.

Full size assembly image of Battery. (1/1)

Thanks. I might ask the dealership about it next time I visit.

Mine is about halfway towards total detachment so it will be interesting to see what you find out. Clearly, the plastic used is not suitable for the higher temp environment in the engine compartment.

That’s hilarious. Mine broke off two weeks ago on a trip to Moab! The red plastic is super thin and weak where it bends.

Hopefully it doesn’t require you to take out a second mortgage on the house to purchase one. My advice to anyone inquiring about parts costs at the dealership is to be seated before they quote a price. Some of their prices cause dizziness, palpitations or wobbly legs.

Two zip ties and a small Wirecutter in the toolbox.

The whole junction is over $400 but I am going to see if they will replace it under warranty. It is super flimsy and not designed for repeated use. Heck, I barely used it and it broke.

Ouch! Hope you were sitting down when they sprung that number on you. Over $400 for a small plastic enclosure. Wish I could make and sell those at that profit margin, I’d be rich in no time.

I totally sent this to Simon and he is thinking about it.

He did have an initial good idea to get the broken one to stick back on: Glue a small magnet on the bottom of the broken cover. That magnet will then stick to the positive post underneath. Brilliant!

Also he said that 3d printed plastics probably won’t work in this area as it’s too hot underhood.

Love me some Simon.
