"Land assist not available" and no power steering on 2023 Defender 130 First Edition
Greetings greetings to one and all... as I figured it would be no surprise I had to come back to this community eventually... After owning the vehicle for one month and it driving like a dream. This morning I woke up to a beautiful surprise.! Upon starting my truck. I received a lane assist not available warning with no peer power steering whatsoever. The car does says that it needs an update. I am attempting to update now. And I will make sure to keep you posted. I am sharing this issue. Because, as you know, a lot of dealers are no help. I found another 20 23 defender 90 owner with the same issue here https://www.landroversonly.com/threa...please.158975/
Does anyone have any suggestions? I will attempt the update and see what happens....
The plus side... I was able to throw my family into the good'ol 2021 Discovery and get them to school on time... no software updates needed!

I get that warning too but the lane assist and power steering works anyway after I pull out of the driveway. Is it because I'm park too close in the garage to get that warning? btw, the warning disappears with no ill effects.
Move the passenger seat forward, disconnect the negative battery terminal using a 10mm wrench. Wait about 10 minutes, reconnect and you should be good to go.
The missing power steering happened to me a few times. I traced my issue to software updates not loading correctly due to poor cell service where I live. I added another WIFI router in the room over our garage. So when I run a software update, I turn off the cellular data in the Defender and instead connect the Defender to the home WIFI. Software updates now load correctly.

Order yourself one of these and keep it in the glove box:

@PaulLR has the best advice. I keep mine in the pocket of the rear passenger door. This WILL work. But as @nashvegas points out: the long term fix likely takes a Dealer to cure the SSB. Make the appointment, order the wrench, put it in the Defender, use it a few times, you will be back on the road, and then weeks later your Service appt will arrive!
Good luck.
Good luck.

I figured after owning discos for many years, there is always a trick. Love this community.
You're welcome! Thankfully you have owned discos and can accept the quirks and "personality" that comes with these vehicles. The early Defender owners that came from a Lexus couldn't accept any issues and already sold their Defenders to Carvana.
LOL...could not have said it better
