Default Least Expensive bars/ski rack options

I realize that this is a somewhat LAME post, but I we do an incredibly MINIMAL amount of skiing but I need a way to get the skis to and fro regardless. Given the infrequency of use, I want to find the least expensive (but durable/safe) solution that I can find.

Any suggestions?

It just needs to hold 2 pair of skis- no boards, no heavier equipment, etc.

THANKS

if it's truly incredibly minimal, and only two pairs, skip the rack, put down a blanket and toss 'em in the truck. they fit easily with any rear seat folded down. depending on the size of skis, they'll probably fit angled and rested on top of rear seats. it's better and safer for the equipment too. anyway, that's my $0.02. good luck.

caveat, i can't confirm this for a 90, but know it works in a 110.

I hear you but I may need all of the room for passengers and other gear---but if I could do that, I would.

If you can't fold the back seats down, you are probably going to have to use the roof or the hitch.

I fold the back seats down in my d90 and i can put skis, poles and all the other gears in the back with plenty of room to spare.

Default Understood!

That’s why I’m looking for rack suggestions.

I know that i can put them inside but my point is that it may not have room and therefore looking for the most basic rack options.

And I don’t have a hitch so looking for roof options.

Factory cross bars with aftermarket ski carriers (Thule, Yakima, inno, etc)

Or

Thule flush rail cross bars with the same options as above for the ski carriers. (Lower profile and more aerodynamic)

I have the whole Thule setup brand new in boxes that I never installed as I realize that I can actually put everything in the back. It's for sale if you or anyone is interested.

Thanks- sent you a PM

I have seen these options and posted as I was hoping someone knew of a less costly option. But I also knew that was a longshot.

From Land Rover, you could get:

Ski and Snowboard Carrier Part Number: VPLZR0187

Check your local dealer's accessories page. This is $408 installed. Can't go wrong here.

OP is more looking for a roof rack (cross bars/base carrier) because the ski/board carrier has to be attached to the rack.

The part listed above is made by Thule which makes many oem accessories for various car markers. Those are the same as the Thule snowpak. The only difference is that the LR ones will have the LR logos whereas the Thule ones will have the Thule logos.

As for installation, it's a matter of sliding the ski carriers into the t-slot of the roof bars (either LR ones which are also made by Thule or the Thule ones) and tighten them. It's a simple plug and play DIY task that probably takes 10 mins to complete.

I’ve been pleased with the front runner cross bars.
