Default Lucky 8 Lifting Rods

Decided to give these a try in the process of deciding on a Llams system or lifting rods. After installing I noticed a difference in total lift height from front to rear. I purchased the 1.5 inch rods however am only seeing 1 inch of lift in the front with 1.5 in the rear. So now the front end sits a 1/2 inch lower than the rear in all heights. Not what I expected. Has anyone had a similar experience or is this normal?

The EAS has a built in tolerance of around 10mm. If your rears were at one end of the tolerance and fronts at the other, you could easily have that sort of discrepancy. Did you drive it for a bit and measure several times?

Just FYI, The GAP IIDTool allows you to see where your height settings are. While these are just random values from the height sensors, you can go back and see if your ending up at the same place repeatedly. You can also raise or lower the suspension as with adjustable rods or the llams but without any installation. Takes about a minute and you then have 3 memory slots for 3 different height settings. Changing only takes about 20 seconds.

That is great information thank you for the reply. I have not driven it yet. I raised a lowered it several times and measured each time with no change. I will drive it this morning and see what happens. As for the Gap tool I have been reading up on them already and have been considering that option as it allows other changes as well. do you happen to have a link for the Gap IID tool. I will look around as well but being new to JLR I don’t want to get the wrong thing.

Never mind I was able to find it. Will take a look and see about purchasing one. Thanks again for the great info.

Yep right after I posted I looked and saw them on their site. As for a follow up I drove it a little yesterday and this morning. Looks like it is closer now with the rear averaging right at 1.5 inches and the front 1.25 inches. Will still be looking at other options as I like the idea of also being able to go a little lower when doing long distances on the interstates. No need to be as high when the road is smooth and no sharp turns. Would like more overall control of the suspension height for sure. Also we travel a lot in my wife’s 130 so will be looking at the same options for hers.

IIDTool BT + one additional VIN license for the 130. Diagnostics are all VIN lock free fro all LRs that we cover but EAS reprogramming is with the advanced features that are VIN locked. An extra VIN license is not that expensive tho at just under $100.

Explanation is here: https://www.gap-diagnostic.com/products/iidtool/ (details just under the 'Features' table)

All great info. I had seen the extra vin purchase. That was what I was thinking for the 130 as well.

I can say I added 1.5" lift rods awhile ago and it raised the Defender evenly all around. So something is up ...
