L8 SYA extension kit questions.
Trying to decide on what route I want to go to lift my 3. The bump stop extension appeals to me but i'm confused on how it functions. Does the lift come from the spacer or the lift rods. I come from lifted Subaru land so I see a spacer and assumed thats where the lift is coming from. But then I see options of kits that include the lift rods. SO here are my main questions.
1. Can you use the lift without the lift rods. I like the idea of a lifted air suspension without the added pressure and extension of the air bags.
2. If you need to use the lift rods can you use a programable lift? I like this route over the rods because you can use the least amount of lift possible.
3. Is it really worth it for me? I have no plans on running huge tires. I just prefer the added ground clearance as less chance for me to mess something up. The main selling point for me is less stress on the airbags. Im about to replace all 4 airbags as preventive maintenance and want this next set to last as long as possible.
4. To anyone running this kit what do you think of it overall?
Thanks yall!

I did some thinking last night so correct me if i'm wrong. The lift is achieved through the spacer.... But you need the rods in order to trick the ride height sensors into thinking that this the normal height. From there you can still select the ride height options and it just adds on it from there. If I invested in a iiD tool I should be able to reprogram it to see the extra 2 inches as normal. I think.... Ill call L8 when i'm out of class and find out for sure.
Jury is still out on how well the SYA kit does what it's supposed to do

Other thing.....with using only the IIDTool you can use it on-demand. Some reports are out that not all LR3s are the same and the IIDTool may not allow as much lift on some as it will for others, based on the EAS calibration. I personally don't have that problem.
You're right, M_lars, he didn't ask what I would do. He did, however, state this:
2. If you need to use the lift rods can you use a programable lift? I like this route over the rods because you can use the least amount of lift possible.
...and to that end, I'm suggesting the IIDTool because it sounds like exactly what he is looking for.
Fair enough?

I ran a rod-mod type lift for a long time before going all in on the IIDTool. It's way better because it's super easy and only "on" when needed. Especially if you're not going up in tire size beyond say a 31.5" tire. If you go 32, there is always a concern about an EAS failure that puts you at the bumpstops. However, those are getting easier to diagnose and mitigate, in my opinion. If the SYA kit does something to "move the bumpstop up" then it could be very valuable. If it is only for lifting or getting clearance over tires, I'd advise for the IIDTool (or equivalent).
