Missing options (HUD, TFT, Clear Sight, 11.4 screen, Leather Seats)
Can anyone tell me if this is just a lack of supply of the chips and materials and they will be available to order again in the future (6-12 months)? Or are they gone for good?
I cannot point to anything official, but this is how I understand it is playing out. When you order and an item is missing, it's because of the supply chain. I haven't heard of anyone getting a discount for the missing items and JLR is not planning on installing after they become generally available. As they have shown with Activity Keys, they add them to new vehicles and are not sending them to older orders. Further, many of the items that they are dropping are VERY tough and expensive (though possible) to re-add after you receive the Defender. Finally, I believe that the intent is to return them to future vehicles, they just are not fulfilling random features as they are not currently available. All this will likely be very confusing to the used car market as people try to understand what they actually have on the Defender before purchase.
Good luck with yours!

Everything until Covid, was JIT ( Just in Time delivery). That model was good in a stable world (no more !) but had a lack of vision of what may go wrong.
Will they be back (features) ? - every one hopes so, but if they can sell them for more (same exact features) on the "higher end" models, like V8 and X .... I doubt they will bring them back.
Then again, this is just me thinking out loud.
If I was you, and those are essential features ( they are for me) I would hold back, or really looking for another model.
As it has been said here they can be added later, but at an astronomical price - economically unfeasible.
Now, if you go with a V8 model, they are all there, nice and shiny, for an extra price.
thing is the price for the V8 will be inline with the new RR Sport!
Yes, it is one of
the following: supply chain, Covid shortages, civil war in Africa, meteorites, etc. They all good excuses for a poor management at the highest level.

Just saying that JLR isn't necessarily reserving these parts for their highest priced models.
I'll be honest, JLR seems like the most dysfunctional manufacturer around. Between the lack and ever changing strategy at Jaguar, and the way these cars are showing up is ridiculous. Missing options and parts, etc. For example, my 2022 V8 came with black calipers instead of xenon blue, which is a 23 option. Others are missing screens or don't come with badges, it's just crazy. The worst thing is Land Rover does nothing to acknowledge the issue.
One silver lining was the discontinuation of the textile seats. My SE came all leather without so much as a by your leave. (All Leather seats that is. Plenty of metal and plastic bits in the car too)
Not sure how many chips/COVIDS/meteorites are in a leather seat but either way I'll take it.
The clearsight mirror and digital dash would be the biggest problem for me, were I in the ordering pool now. I'm not sure I could accept a lack of either. The former is just so useful and better than a regular mirror, the latter just seems right in a vehicle with more brains than some folks I've met. Looks cool too.

Recently took delivery of a 2022 Range Rover Westminster for my wife, it was missing HUD and 360 camera because of chip shortage even though they are listed as standard options. For her not a deal breaker and they knocked some money off. Dealer said LR was prioritizing chips to the Defenders because of demand and that my 2022 Defender X-Dynamic (still in transit) will have the 360 camera and not missing any features due to chip shortage. (apparently has 11.4" screen and clear site mirror) It's kind of a crap shoot until you see it in person, the dealer doesn't know 100% what the vehicle will be until its on their lot. We'll see what my Defender ends up being, the options list has changed twice while in transit. I'll know in a week.
Funny, there was a 22 Black Defender S P300 at LR Willow Grove in the last week or two that had the full digital dash and the 11.4" screen. It's gone now but when I see comments about V8 models with the smaller screen you have to wonder on what basis decisions are being made over in Nitra.
