I am in the San Francisco California area. We have a half dozen dealerships, but the one in my town has zero Defenders. The one I went to (I took the ferry and friend picked me up) has 5 pre-owned Defenders in stock--1 4 cylinder, 4 6 cylinder. Today was the first time I have seen a Defender in person. It is tall, but very well detailed--impressive. I think the car needs that step rail option so most people can descend somewhat gracefully. The nice sales person said I could get any Defender in stock at the sticker price, but he had to add $10,000 markup for new orders. I would have taken a pre-owned car, but they were all too dark for me.
I remember adding a markup was standard procedure when BMW revived the Mini brand and dealers could not keep them in stock. Participants of the new Mini forum were kind enough to share names of dealerships in the US that did not charge markup. The most popular dealer was in Ohio and it had a favorite sales person who happily took everybody's orders and placed them. She said she would rather sell 100 cars at MSRP than just 20 with markups. The Defender phenomenon reminds me of the Mini because both cars are dramatically different from their illustrious predecessors, but maintain the DNA.
Same port and similar distance to dealer and was 10ish days. Quicker than I expected.
Boy that would be amazing if mine got here that quick. I'm renting a crapbox Hertz rental to the tune of $1,100 a month. My D90 is supposed to be at the dealer Sept 9
Our 5/20 build made Port Hueneme after 5 stops on 7/31 and to dealership over the weekend. Anyone with similar build date and west coast-ish delivery may be expecting soon.
Delivery on the 12th then a week later to PPF/tint/Crystal Serum coating. Then changing to 20inch wheels and Nokian WR G4 SUV to try for winter high Rockies weather.
New member here. My very long wait is coming to fruition. Ordered In November and after 2 delays and changes in eta the car is finally on a Boat after 8 months.
Not sure if its because of the features I selected, but seems my car was waiting in the UK for quite a long time after production.
Not sure whats missing and was deleted yet, but at this point Im just glad its coming. Preparing myself for the war with the dealer
Can anyone confirm if my order qualifies for the OLD MSRP pricing?
Does anyone who had a 7/15 build date have confirmation their vehicle was actually built? Mine was delayed until 7/31 and didn’t get built then either.
congratulations. I’m still waiting for my wife’s 110 which has been sitting in UK for almost 2 months.
You should qualify for price protection since you ordered prior to 3/31/2022. I was able to work this out in advance after receiving my updated build sheet after the 110 was built. The new sheet showed the updated pricing, but contacted my dealer to confirm pricing was as ordered. JLR sent a letter to dealers explaining there would be a rebate for orders prior to 3/31. For whatever reason they price protected about 90% of the difference and it wasn’t worth the time, effort and future goodwill to press further at that time. My dealer confirmed the slightly higher pricing within a couple days.
Contact your dealer now and clarify that. You don’t want to negotiate this (or anything else) while your smiling face is sitting in your new defender the first time.
