There are so many variables to consider when buying a new car.

my best advice is to do some research on the best practices when buying new. They are well documented. I’ve employed the fighting chance methodology for my past eight cars. Works to perfection.

I will say Land Rover was the most difficult to navigate on negotiation due to their region rules. At the end of the day I secured 6% off MSRP on an ordered 2025 unit. Not a great deal and I’m sure I could have done better if I practiced a little more.

Good luck!

Best bet is to pay a visit to the dealer. Everyone has a different experience, every salesperson is different. It depends on your negotiating skills. Some people fight harder than others. Just because one person pays one price doesn’t mean much. It’s the deal YOU make. Some dealerships act tough, won’t negotiate, others will. On a recent purchase, after not agreeing to terms, we got up and walked out, saying we’ll go elsewhere. Five minutes down the road the phone rang. They were willing to meet our price. Depends on how tough you are.

Exactly, the key to any 'deal' is people have to be willing to walk away. Very few people step into a dealership and can resist telegraphing that they're locked on to the vehicle. They come in and it's clear that's why they came in to buy THIS car. It's already over with once the salesperson picks up on that. I always communicate right up front that I'm looking at several different cars/brands and this is one of the five that I have an interest in. I'm not BS'ing about that either, that's how I car shop, I research and then come up with my top five. If the dealership won't play fair then you don't want them as your dealership anyway. As long as I'm fully willing to walk away and buy something else at a different dealership then I can almost always get a very solid price for my trade in or if no trade is in play then knocking something off of MSRP. With that being said several times I have needed to walk away. By the same token I've never signed off on what I've considered to be anything less than a solid deal.

I paid msrp on a 2025 130 X- Dynamic. Dealer said no negotiation on a 2025, especially on a special order. they were willing to negotiate on a 2024 that was already on a lot. I'm happy and don't feel like I could've gotten a better deal. I got exactly what I wanted.

same for me. Happy to pay msrp. I remember first looking at a xdynamic in 2022 and it was above msrp. I ordered my 2025 and clicked al the boxes I wanted. Offered off msrp on 2024.

When I ordered mine, my dealer was selling at MSRP with no negotiations, but they did give me a $500 discount for being a 3x repeat customer. It is common to see some discounts on dealer inventory, but usually special orders are full MSRP. Luckily, it seems like the markups are a thing of the past, at least until the OCTA hits the showrooms in the beginning of the year.

Something not mentioned here is timing is important as well. If you come in at the end of a month or better yet, end of a calendar year, the dealer is much more likely to work out a deal due to the potential for triggering monthly/yearly sales incentives on their side. From my personal experience, I was able to get 5-6% off on a 24' 130 by coming in on Labor day and capturing some lingering August sales incentives on top of end of month.

Use a website like caredge to find out how long any particular car has been on the dealer lot. Anything that has been around for more than 60 days is beginning to get to a place where it has negotiation room. Anything over 90 days is ripe for negotiation.

Any custom order is going to be tough to get a deal on unless that model line simply isn't moving metal. The Defender still sells pretty well with what seems like a 30-80 days supply for new models on the lot.

I’m in the process of buying a new 110 V8 or X for my wife to supplement our 2021 90 that I want to make my daily.
l have been offering 9% off MSRP for 2024s on the lot….no luck thus far but.someone will call back after Thanksgiving.
There is a loyalty rebate of $2,500 that would be applied after we negotiate the price.
Multiple Land Rover dealers in my area have 10+ 2024s on the lot and seem to think the things are Porsche 911 GT3RS based on how unwilling they are to negotiate on what is essentially last year’s model.
We use the dealer 3 miles away from our house to service our 90 but they seem extended uninterested in selling a vehicle in their inventory or even ordering one.
I’d prefer to buy one from them but it looks like we will be using a different dealer to source the vehicle.

I find it funny that the car salespeople at “premium” brands all forgot it takes work to sell a vehicle and the days of ADM are over.
We 100% do not need a V8 for my wife, but I want one so I can drive it in anger when I take it to get serviced and washed for my wife.
The pragmatic choice would be a P400.
