this will be my first thread in this forum, hopefully more threads to follow with my experience owning the new defender.
I was lucky to receive my car as it was one of the last shipments that came this year (built in December 2020 and received it on February 2021).
All upcoming 2021 defender orders are canceled and shifted to 2022 builds, you have the choice to wait or return your deposit, and to my understanding the factory is having difficulties with the parts vendors and the COVID situation so a letter was sent out.
I was worried about roof rack noise too. I went with the Voyager rack and even without the wind deflector it’s not bad. With a deflector you don’t even notice a difference from without a rack all together. (The Cargo Boxes add a little wind noise but not like what you were describing (e.g. no need to scream on phone calls or turn music up).
does the Voyager rack use the oem roof rails? Im sure its an amazing roof rack, but the price is very exaggerated

Yes but you still have to remove the screws holding the rails so it’s a moot point. Thankfully, on my 2020, I had zero issue removing my screws. Honestly, the hardest part of installing it was removing the stupid plastic covers they use in the oem rails, I ended up simply prying them off with a screw driver and busting each one for the sake of my sanity (I don’t think they are meant to be reused). After that, it took my neighbor (to help lift it) and I about 10 min to secure it.
[QUOTE=aao4473;770242]I know the defender has a lot of storage spaces, but I always find myself in a dilemma with the phone placement.
so I found this company called A-Tach mounts, that creates the best phone holder solution Ive seen for the defender.
Did you look at the pro lip option? I usually use pro clip and I see they have one also. Looks like Simi liar placing. I’d be interested as to how a-arch works and fits with the magnetic mount. You have to attached a metal plate to your phone holder don’t you?
thats correct, you insert the metal plate inside your phone case, or you can use cases that have magnets in them.
They have the “upper” mount same as the prolip, and the “lower” mount, I went with the lower back.
I myself order a their mount without any attachments and added the magnetic holder myself on the mount.

The Front Runner rack is way more useful than the Voyager rack. Lots of accessory mounts and it's flat so you can mount a roof top tent. I have my OverlandPros Anza 2000 tent, Overland Pros Wraptor 4K 270 deg awning, max Trax, and chef table that slides underneath the rack, just waiting for the actual table which UPS lost in transit. So many options with FR. I've had SD rack on range rover and OEM expedition rack on LR3 and every attachment had to be modified or fabricated. FR did all that work for you. Voyager is also way overpriced.
I was checking the front runner recently, and I think I’m going with their roof rack that uses the oem roof rails.
loved their hassle free bolt on accessories
