NDM snorkel is a true snorkel. 4” stainless steel sealed to the air box. completely different to the OEM RAI.

It meets all the criteria.

as does Bravo snorkel which requires no fender drilling.
Got it sorry I was thinking that was possibly what you meant but was not sure. I should have made that more clear. 👍

There is also this as an alternative. It is listed as a snorkel that seals off the air intake.

It's more expensive than the others and hints at being more water resistant. Still described as an RAI. Sounds like they're hedging their design bets. Hard pass on that one. Thrice the price of the Bravo.

I think I am going to reach out to sk overland and see what all is included and see if I can get a copy of the install instructions. I also wonder what it would take to modify the OEM RAI to make it actually seal. Custom fab up something like the bravo setup? Might be a project for me there.

Or limiting their liability

I might have a look at the Bravo snorkel sometime.
The first thing I am going to do is see what the OEM RAI needs to become watertight. I have a feeling the main problem is the seal between the body of the RAI and the tube running through the fender. I will report back (has nobody else looked at this?). Aside from everything else, I think aesthetically the OEM 'snorkel' is the best at the moment.

Default Over the hood

Hello guys this last weekend I was wheeling and drove into a spot that put water over the hood of the defender,” I do have the RAI” and no problems whatsoever. I would be very interested in seeing if the OEM snorkel can be sealed better. Please keep us posted if anyone tries this.
