I just installed these on my 2020 Defender 110 P300 and wanted to write a quick review on the set I found on
Amazon Amazon
. This is a really nice side pair of side steps, visually and structurally. The only difference from this and the OEM version that I can tell is that the "Defender" logo is NOT stamped on the tops of steps. However, in this kit you DO receive all of the clips you need to reinstall the panels (I understand you have to purchase these clips separately if you go with the OEM option). I also got a clip remover tool and a few other tools with this. Before I installed, I watched "Land Rover Defender 2020+ Side Step/ bar/ Tube Fitting Instructions" by "powerfulukltd" on YouTube a few times. I took my time and it took about 4 hours from start to finish mainly since you have to cut away (4) 2x4'' rectangles on the undercover and (4) on the plastic rocker panel cover, per the instructions (a utility knife, wire clippers, and some patience worked for me). It's helpful to raise the vehicle height to off road mode to work under the Defender easier. Kids don't fall now when entering and exiting. Thanks!

For those wanting to maintain the off road abilities of your Defender but need steps for family members, the Lucky8 sliders do work fine as steps. I have some rubber faced no grip tape on top that is holding well so far, and the wife gave thumbs up on ease of entry now. These will hold the weight of the vehicle, protect the vitals in the mid section of the vehicle, don’t affect break over angles at all.

I almost pulled the trigger on the OEM rails after getting larger tires but I’d rather have sliders that are a little more robust. Looked into Lucky8 but feel like they could have done something more as far as grip or step for the price they are asking. I’ll be waiting for another option myself.

The guys at voyager keep saying they will come out with sliders, but I wouldn’t hold my breath. The lucky8 sliders are incredibly robust and really should be called sliders and protection plates, because they include massive steel plates under the car, which helps explain the price. For our use, the rubber tape works great for the step. I wouldn’t want them adding any kind of step to the bars because they would just get ripped sliding a tree. They’re really built for function over anything else.

Good point. Still, I just picture my 5 year old slipping on the top of the bar. Would be cool if it was pressed a bit flat on the top with some sort of traction tape like you came up with. I may take a second look at the Lucky8 if nothing else comes along. The Voyager ones may be great if they come out, I’ve been really enjoying their rack.

Has anyone installed these on the X-Dynamic? Is there any molding to remove since it is painted vs the plastic cladding?

Make sure to put Jack stands under the car if you going under there with suspension set to off-road height. The car can come down without warning at any time with expected consequences if you are in the wrong place.

Removal is as difficult as the install is. Same parts need to come off for the removal. its the 2 x 2 bolts attached to the inside of the frame that causes all the pain and work. Im not even sure you really need to attach the 2 x 2 inside bolts and just use the 2x2 bottom side bolts. they are big and beefy as they are. not using the 4 inside frame bolts would make the install much easer. Below is a link for much easer side step instructions only using the 2 x2 under frame bolts. it is a great install guide non the less with dimensions to cut out the squares without taking the panels off to do it. I suggest a Dremel with a cut off wheel to cut out your squares.
