New Defender on the Mojave trail
#11
I have the full-length Front Runner rack which requires removal of the roof rails. Its a more involved install but I wanted the extra space. I went with front runner for all the accessories. The Godwana has the LR expedition rack which is great also but he had to drill into the rack to mount things. One thing I realized is the the side box and LR ladder won't work with the front runner rack as it needs the side rails to mount correctly. I think Lucky8 has a rear ladder.

Looks like a great trip (was there back in November and made camp near the Granite Mountains). I like the black steelies (assuming painted stock)! What PSI did your tire blow at?

Great to see a few more defenders out in the Mojave! I was out there a few weeks ago and put this together for Expedition Portal. I spend lots of time in the Mojave desert, and plenty in the MNP.

And yeah, my first stop after taking delivery at dealership was my local tire shop for a set of KO2's. Still trying to sell these near new Wranglers, I guess nobody wants them for a reason. Thankfully I can keep a lot of my camping related stuff in my Turtleback, giving me more flexibility on what I can do with the Defender itself.
The one thing I've been looking for in regards to a vehicle mounted awning is something that packs away to a width of 4' so it will fit on the rear of the Defender's rack. I have the Front Runner rack as well (although the shorter one so I didn't have to mess with the rivnuts) and this rear space would be great for a 180 that fully covers the area around the rear of the vehicle. The closest one is the 23Zero 180 R, but that's still 5' wide and will stick out too much on the sides. https://23zero.com/product/peregrine-180-r/
