Default New to the forum - just ordered a Defender

When the new Defenders were released, I was a little disappointed. I thought the interior was great, and looked like a perfect modernization of the old one. But, I thought the exterior was a little too bland, and didn't live up to my expectations. However, they have definitely grown on me, and after becoming a little obsessed with them over the last few months, I finally placed an order for a 110 x. When I first spoke with my dealer, they were asking $10k over sticker for 6 cyl and $30k over sticker for the V8. Long story short, after a couple conversations, they agreed to sell me a 6 cyl at MSRP. I still hate paying full sticker for a car, but it is what it is these days.

Now the good stuff.

Here is my build:
Defender 110 x

Carpathian Grey
Vintage Tan/Ebony Windsor Leather
20" Satin Dark Grey Wheels
Towing Pack
Cold Climate Pack
Three-zone Climate Control
Air Quality Sensor
Cabin Air Purification Plus
Wi-Fi

The order was placed on 10/1, and estimated delivery is late February. I was told the satin grey wheels could delay the build, but we'll see what happens.

Congrats! I just got my X last week and it is my favorite vehicle of all time out of a pretty substantial lineup. I am certain you will enjoy it!

Nice, and you’d be hard pressed to find a Defender or build one under MSRP. Never pay over sticker though.

way things are going there might be incentives again by that point if the analysts are to be believed. big used car bubble coming, inventory is increasing, etc.

I know they keep saying that but at what point will new inventory catch up? That's when things will definitely change. I mean until there's enough supply I don't understand how anything changes and supply is essentially what six months behind from pre-covid? Supply can't accumulate unless production can be ramped up to not just match but to exceed pre-covid levels. I doubt production will change much because it was set to a specific velocity, that's it's peak... so they can predict bubbles all they want to but until I see more than two new Hondas sitting on the lot in any given week (and those were pre-orders) I doubt anything will be changing much IMO. As long as it's order and wait 6 months, used cars will stay in demand.

I agree with you on some brands but I don’t see LR offering incentives any time soon. My local LR dealer received zero defender allocations last month. Could be wrong.

I also agree and would never pay market adjustment on an ordered vehicle.

who knows, I would never count on it more of a 'sweet, bonus!' moment but if you listen long enough the 'experts' will tell you anything.

I just hope we don't see a full on '08 level collapse. that'd be a frustrating time.

I agree Trekkie. Let's hope things will pan out better than 2008

I don't think much will change until the chip shortage catches up ...and who knows when that will happen. But once it does, supposedly there are thousands of new vehicles sitting and waiting for chips. A flood of new vehicles will make things interesting.

Congrats, and welcome to the waiting game

I placed my 110X order in early March, and am still waiting (supposed to be 10/28 delivery at the moment, so ~8 months). I imagine mine is on the slower end with all packages added, so wishing you greater speed
